Circle Contemporary Gallery CIRCLE is a contemporary art gallery located in North Cornwall. Circle is a Fine Art Gallery located in North Cornwall.

We show a selection of abstract and figurative artists whose primary inspiration is the natural landscape. Circle also represents European artists and exhibits some of the finest craftwork being made today. Gallerists John O’Carroll and Lucy Thorman run the gallery with a professional but relaxed vibe, in keeping with west coast gallery convention. John O’Carroll is also a visual artist with an on

site studio. The gallery is a cool and minimal space which is continually evolving. We collect emerging and well known artists, alternating group and solo exhibitions, focusing on fresh and innovative art.

Wil Jansen is a Dutch artist inspired by the beauty of flowers, changing seasons and the natural world. Working intuitively with colour, texture and form, she creates richly layered impasto paintings that transform nature into vibrant abstractions.

Based in Amsterdam, her work celebrates the energy and rhythms of nature while exploring the expressive possibilities of paint. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections around the world.

Large Flowers by Ben Allen explores colour, scale and painterly process through bold floral compositions. Marking a shift in Allen’s practice, the paintings move away from the cultural references and recognisable imagery that characterised earlier works, focusing instead on colour and form.

Colour is at the heart of the series. Allen carefully mixes his own palettes by hand, creating unique colour combinations for each body of work. By recording these colour recipes, he can revisit and repeat them across paintings, giving colour a central role in shaping the character of the series.

Developed in dialogue with AI as part of the studio process, the works reflect Allen’s interest in contemporary image-making while remaining rooted in the physical act of painting.
