Today was the final day of the hugely popular photographic exhibition, 'Tom Kenny's Old Galway – A Bird's Eye View'. The show has had hundreds of visitors through the doors here to view it over the past few weeks, to look at images of different parts of Galway city, as seen from above and in days gone by.

We'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Gerry O'Gorman (pictured), whose remarkable aerial photography formed an important part of the exhibition. Many thanks, Gerry.

Thank you to everyone who came to see the show over the past weeks. It’s been a wonderful run!

New paintings by Roscommon artist Mike Hawthorne. Mike's pastoral landscapes and street scenes capture the Irish countryside with a dream-like quality.

Growing up in a family of monumental sculptors, drawing and designing were always part of every day life for Mike. He was particularly influenced by the work of artists Norman Rockwell, Robert Woods, David Sheppard and Robert Taylor. Mike has exhibited with us for many years at Kennys, and his work can be found in the collections of former Presidents of Ireland Mary Robinson and Michael D Higgins, County Leitrim Civic Offices, County Roscommon Arts Council, and many private collections worldwide.

Currently available are some landscapes plus several scenes of Galway city, including of Quay Street and Galway Docks. All works pictured are framed and Acrylic on Canvas, with prices starting at €495. For more information or to enquire about purchase, you can email [email protected]. https://shorturl.at/7Vrtd

We're delighted to announce a new photographic exhibition of Galway images taking place at Kennys from March 31st - 'Tom Kenny's Old Galway – A Bird’s Eye View'. This exhibition presents Galway from above through more than 40 enlarged images from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Featuring aerial photography, elevated viewpoints, and a remarkable 1651 map of the city, the exhibition explores how Galway has been seen and recorded from the air across the centuries. It also acknowledges the work of aerial pioneers such as Norman Ashe and the generosity of photographer Gerry O’Gorman.

A launch event will take place at Kennys on Tuesday, March 31st at 6pm and you are invited! The exhibition will be launched by Dick Byrne via a live recording of The Old Galway Diary podcast. Join us from 6pm for drinks, speeches and to view this remarkable collection of photographs of Galway curated by Tom Kenny. Some of the images included are featured here.

The exhibition runs from 31st March to 30t April at Kennys, Monday to Saturday, with free admission.
