Tra pittura, scultura e disegno, la speciale selezione al piano nobile di Palazzo del Vignola attraversa la molteplicità di linguaggi con cui Gallo esprime una poetica autentica e potente, fatta di simboli che attingono alla natura, alla filosofia, alla matematica, alla cosmologia e alla letteratura. In mostra anche alcune delle opere protagoniste di esposizioni storiche, provenienti dall’archivio dell’artista e da importanti collezioni private, che raccontano un percorso capace di celebrare, con sottile ironia, una visione surreale e fantastica del mondo delle forme.

L’Associazione Culturale Todi per l’Arte presenta la mostra personale di Giuseppe Gallo, che inaugurerà venerdì 28 agosto alle ore 12:30 presso Palazzo del Vignola, in occasione del Todi Festival 2026.
L’esposizione, a cura di Melania Rossi, riunisce per la prima volta oltre cinquanta opere realizzate dall’artista negli anni ’80, periodo in cui partecipa alla stagione più fertile degli artisti di San Lorenzo. Nella storica fucina dell’Ex Pastificio Cerere a Roma, gli artisti erano uniti da un sodalizio umano oltre che professionale, fatto di sperimentazioni tecniche e riflessioni sulla pittura e la scultura come linguaggi universali tesi a una dimensione spirituale.

Galleria dello Scudo from many years devotes its activity to promote the work by Afro Basaldella in collaboration with Marco Mattioli Fondazione Afro Basaldella – Archivio Afro. In recent edition of Art Basel, Galleria dello Scudo presented a masterpiece from 1966, Tavola rotonda, a painting that was selected for all the most important retrospectives dedicated to the artist. Recent exhibitions include retrospectives at the Fukuyama Museum of Art, Fukuyama, in 2002, and at the Institut Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt in 2002-2003, as well as the exhibition with works by Burri and Fontana at Haunch of Venison, New York, 2012.

Galleria dello Scudo presents at Art Basel a large size painting by Carla Accardi, one of the most important figures of the 20th Italian art, widely represented in Italian public collections.

The work has a long exhibition history, from the solo show at the Galerie Stadler in Paris in 1965, organized thanks to the close collaboration with Michel Tapié, to various retrospectives in Europe, up until its recent appearance in the major exhibition at the Palazzo Esposizioni in Rome organized to celebrate the centenary of her birth.

Galleria dello Scudo also presents other works by Carla Accardi at Art Basel, reconfirming its interest in the most important figures of post-war Italian painting, widely recognized internationally.

Galleria dello Scudo from many years devotes its activity to promote the work by Emilio Vedova in collaboration with Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova. This year, at Art Basel, Galleria dello Scudo presents a masterpiece from 1962, Ciclo 1962 - S.3, based on strong contrasts of black and white combined with bright colors, now on show close together with sculptures by Leoncillo. In the past the painting was selected by the artist for the important anthological exhibition curated by Germano Celant at Museo Correr, Venice, in 1984.

Another painting from 1960 is one of the three canvases of the same subject executed between 1959 and 1960: one is now on show in Basel, the other two are in public Italian collections.

A mixed media on paper laid down on canvas completes the selection of works proposed in this international appointment in Basel.

Works from the 1920s by Giacomo Balla and Giorgio de Chirico appear alongside canvases by Carla Accardi from the 1960s, together with large paintings by Emilio Vedova and glazed terracotta sculptures by Leoncillo of the same period. Alberto Viani is represented by the plaster which precedes the marble sculpture formerly in the MoMA collection, New York.
