LOYAL is pleased to present Telecoasts, a solo exhibition of three new paintings by Chanel Khoury, opening Thursday, October 8 at Loyal Chapel in Lund.
Khoury’s paintings occupy spaces that feel precise and impossible. Reflective forms loop, cross, fold, and reach through environments governed by their own spatial logic. Sweeping structures giving both architecture and movement appear at different moments like glass, liquid, chrome, and light. Horizon lines and suggestions of landscape offer momentary points of orientation, while repeated reflections upend any stable sense of scale or position. Everything appears sharp and lucid, yet the realm it inhabits remains just out of reach.
Presented in the chapel in Lund, a space built for ritual and contemplation, the paintings form a concentrated environment. The architecture of the nineteenth-century space introduces another system of proportion, repetition, symmetry, and orientation around them. Within it, Khoury’s paintings are boundless, conjuring speculative worlds that feel rooted in the logic of our own realities, while opening into another.
