We are happy and proud to present the first international Artist-In-Residence at Uppsala Konstnärsklubb!
Following an open call with 146 applicants, the jury has chosen MAR SERINYÀ GOU (visual artist, performer and researcher)
We look forward to welcoming her in October, with a workplace in our Studio and an exhibition 24th Oct to 8th Nov.

Mar Serinyà Gou holds a PhD in Arts from the University of Barcelona, as well as a Master’s degree in Artistic Research and Creation and a BA in Fine Arts. She also received formal training in voice at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music.
Her artistic practice is site-specific and research-based, combining performance, voice, drawing, installation, video, and sound to explore landscape, body, ecology, ritual, and collective memory. She has presented her work internationally across Europe, Australia, and Canada, receiving awards, grants, and residencies including recently the BigCi Environmental Award (Australia), the Art Film Spirit Award Toronto (Canada), and the Kjerringøy Land Art Biennale 2023/24 – Special Edition (Norway).
Her residency at Walmstedtska Cultural Quarter will begin with direct engagement with the site through walking, observation, and the collection of impressions, objects, textures, sounds, stories, and spatial gestures. She approaches the site as both a historic environment and a living space shaped by memory, artistic practice, and social relationships. Drawn to the nearby river as a living element connecting culture, nature, and the body, she envisions developing an installation from collected materials, images, sounds, drawings, and performative traces, revealing the hidden relationships embedded within the place.
