We’re thrilled to announce the premiere of our short documentary ‘Luodong Commonality: people, public, and everyday ordinariness’ (2024) at the 28th Online Marathon Short Film 2024! Catch its debut in Program 15 on November 6th at 1:00 PM. Stay tuned for updates on the Thai Film Archive!

“The clapping sounds of senior residents' group exercise, the sight of middle-aged locals practicing Tai-chi, little children rollerblading, and grandmothers in wheelchairs observing morning activities — beneath the roof of the Luodong Cultural Working House, the public space hums with recreational activities and the communal spirit of everyday ordinariness. Designed by a team of architects at Fieldoffice Architects in Yilan, Taiwan, the construction of the Luodong Cultural Working House was completed in 2014. Since then, it has transformed into a communal space for the residents of Luodong Township. The building, embraced by a lush garden, has become a hub of diverse activities, where people of all ages come together to share the public area. As passersby, we used our phone cameras as anthropological instruments to capture the intricate relationships and vibrant architectural experiences unfolding under its steel roof.”
