Weekend recommendations by Ferda Art Platform

Drawing, a duo exhibition by İnci Furni and Deniz Aktaş, is on view at Ferda Art Platform until June 6th.

In Deniz Aktaş’s works, the image is constructed in a transitional space between the photographic image and drawing. Linear hatchings compress and intensify the image; on monochrome surfaces, the gaze wanders through these fragments of landscape.

In İnci Furni’s works, the surface ceases to be a passive ground and transforms into an area of encounter and resistance established through gestures. Here, the gesture is not just an expression but a form of physical negotiation with the surface; as the interventions progress, the surface reacts—freezing in some places and dissolving in others. Form, instead of being fixed, constantly transforms within this interaction.

The 7th International Mardin Biennial will welcome art lovers between May 15 and June 21, 2026, under the title “SKYground” curated by Çelenk Bafra. We are pleased to share that our artist Hüseyin Aksoy will be participating in this edition with his works.

Under the theme “SKYground,” the 7th Mardin Biennial invites viewers to both the ground of truth and the horizon of imagination, aiming to establish a strong and contemporary dialogue between Mardin’s multilayered cultural heritage and contemporary art. Bridging sky and earth, the individual and the collective, the past and the future, the biennial leads its audience on a journey between seemingly opposing poles.

Drawing, a duo exhibition by İnci Furni and Deniz Aktaş, is on view at Ferda Art Platform until June 6th.

Drawing is often considered the initial stage of a sketch or a preparatory process. This exhibition, however, removes drawing from being a temporary preliminary step and treats it as an independent practice of thinking and relating to the surface. In this approach, drawing belongs neither solely to the beginning nor to the end; it emerges as a field with its own temporality and mode of expression.

Weekend Recommendations by Ferda Art Platform
