The Akron Society of Artists (ASA) is celebrating its 95th anniversary. Explore its artistic heritage during the month of September with a display that salutes notable ASA members like past president Russell Colley, designer of the first space suit. Since 1931, local artists have gathered to learn, create and grow as the Akron Society of Artists. Learn about the rich history of one of Ohio’s oldest arts organizations – still active and vital today. A reception will be held Thursday, September 10th at the Akron History Center from 5-7.

JUST A REMINDER: The Akron History Center is open today from 1-4p (last entry at 3:30p).

also is kicking off their Juneteenth Celebration at today from 2-8p.

Come down to the museum and learn how one Akron man awakened a nation to fight for what was right and how his actions have been identified as the beginning of the Civil War. Then stop by the table at Lock 3 to learn how you can visit his home and learn more about John Brown!

EXCITING NEWS!!! in partnership with have launched their Passport for Ohio’s Trails & Trails Program. This passport encourages guests to visit at least six sites across each of the trails - Innovation Trail, Creativity Trail, Air & Space Trail, Transportation Trail, Lake Erie to Ohio River Trail. People who visit six sites on a trail will receive an embroidered patch with the Trail’s logo. LUCKY FOR ALL OF YOU, the Akron History Center is on all 5 trails!!! Come on in, learn about Akron’s history, and celebrate America’s 250th birthday!!!
