Design Your Own Bonsai Pot: A hands-on ceramic workshop with Tempest NeuCollins

Participants will be introduced to the art of bonsai and the relationship between tree and vessel. Working with pre-formed pots, you’ll develop a unique piece through surface, texture, and visual language while considering how it will pair with a living tree. Each pot will be professionally finished and fired offsite and returned to the gallery for pickup.

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Gutman Gallery
Price: $185 (includes ceramic pot, bonsai tree, and all materials)

The experience includes a bonsai starter kit from Green Witch Gardens, with planting instructions so you can complete your piece at home and continue the process beyond the workshop. No prior experience needed.

Exciting News: Gallery Nights are Back!
Eight participating gallery spaces in Kerrytown, Ann Arbor, welcome the public for special activities on the fourth Thursday of the month from May 28th through September 24th, 2026!
All activities are open to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each participating gallery will host a rotating roster of artist talks, demonstrations, artist pop-ups, and special appearances, welcoming the public to celebrate Ann Arbor’s vibrant art scene.
At each location, participants will have the opportunity to get a Gallery Passport! By visiting each participating gallery and receiving a stamp on your passport, you can enter to win a Raffle Prize. The grand prize will include exciting items from each business as a thank you for supporting your local art community!
