Sharing a project we are leading this summer called America 250: This Is Now at Gallery 57 West, opening June 7 as part of First Sunday.
It’s a participatory public art project built around a simple idea: patterns connect us. Across the American experience, people have used patterns to tell stories, share knowledge, and create beauty.
You can stop by the gallery to pick up a 3x3 canvas, all supplies, including stamps, ink, and markers, will be provided. Create geometric, nautical, floral, nature-inspired, circuit, binary code, tech-inspired, or completely original designs using red, blue, their own colors, or any combination you choose.
You can create your piece at the gallery or take it home and bring it back later. We ask that completed pieces be returned by August 15, though earlier is ideal so they can become part of the growing "Community quilt" throughout the summer.
