Join us for Making At the Vanguard: The Past and Futures of Black History Keeping, a panel conversation exploring the conceptualization, development, and ex*****on of the HBCU History and Culture Access Consortium and the making of At the Vanguard: Making and Saving History at HBCUs.
The conversation brings together Shyheim Williams, Digital Humanities Program Manager at CAUAM, and colleagues from the National Museum of African American History and Culture: Shanita Bracket, Acting Director; Auntaneshia Staveloz, Acting Director of Strategic Partnerships; and JoAnne Hyppolite, Ph.D., Assistant Director of Culture.
Together, they’ll explore CAUAM’s participation in the Consortium and the development of At the Vanguard an exhibition weaving together stories of ingenuity, artistry, persistence, and resistance through the transformative world of HBCUs. Featuring more than 130 objects from five universities, the exhibition highlights the important role HBCU museums and archives play in making and saving African American history.

At the Vanguard is the inaugural exhibition of the HBCU History and Culture Access Consortium and features collections from Clark Atlanta University, Florida A&M University, Jackson State University, Texas Southern University, and Tuskegee University.
