The birthplace of the American illustrated storybook and historic home of Joel Chandler Harris in Atlanta's Historic West End Neighborhood, The Wren’s Nest is a cultural center that promotes literacy and celebrates the stories from African and Indigenous folklore. By preserving the heritage of African and Indigenous folklore through public storytelling, tours, student publishing, concerts, a free

book program, and events, The Wren’s Nest serves as an educational resource for the community, the greater Atlanta area, and visitors from around the world.

History and the story of who we are can be told so many ways...love trees as storytellers. ❤

Join us for a powerful conversation with award-winning plant biologist Dr. Beronda L. Montgomery about her new book exploring the deep ties between Atlanta’s trees and Black American history. Dr. Montgomery will be joined in conversation with Dr. Na’Taki Osborne Jelks, the Executive Director of West Atlanta Watershed Alliance.

Doors open at 3:30pm for a Community Resource Share with local organizations working in science, trees and history.

Наша Ніва shared that the "Popuri" publishing house just released a Belarusian translation of Joel Chandler Harris's "Uncle Remus Tales," translated by Serzhuk Miadzvedzeu and richly illustrated by artist Maryna Zhvirblya. So fun to see the stories still live on overseas!

Recognize that front porch? That's right, we were included, thanks to Insight Cultural Tourism owner and new Wren's Nest Board member Robert Thompson, in this recent article from Atlanta Magazine. Robert is even wearing one of our shirts (yes they ARE for sale, just reach out). Nice to see our porch looking so chic, come over and sit a spell if you are in the neighborhood, a great spot for reading a book...just saying. 😉 📖 🐇
