Julie Asher and Steve Lingham will both be here at Found Fine Art on Friday September 4th and Saturday September 5th. The last time they were here I had the honor of interviewing them both with the same questions just to see what the results would be; because as you can tell both Julie and Steve have fantastic personalities and wonderful chemistry. Please enjoy a snippet of that interview and be sure to come and visit us this weekend to see incredibly talented artists in one gallery.

About this Artist:

Originally from Northern England, I relocated to Texas, USA, where I now share Studio 714 with my wife and fellow artist, Julie Asher.

Art has been a lifelong pursuit. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, and in 1995 I took the leap into selling my work professionally—a commitment that has continued for more than three decades.

Birds have remained a constant and defining theme throughout my career. From delicate songbirds and game birds to powerful raptors and vibrant tropical species, avian subjects dominate my portfolio. Since moving to the United States, the diverse landscapes and extraordinary range of birdlife have provided an ever-expanding source of inspiration.

Over the years, I have worked in a variety of media, including acrylic, gouache, and pencil. In recent years, I have found my strongest artistic voice in oil painting. The depth, richness of color, and versatility of oils allow me to explore the subtle qualities of light, texture, atmosphere, and movement that bring each subject to life.

My work is characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a deep respect for the natural world. Although my process is often painstaking and labor-intensive, my goal extends beyond simply capturing a bird’s physical likeness. I strive to convey its character and presence—the light on its feathers, the atmosphere surrounding it, and the sense of movement and life that makes each subject unique.

Welcome to Part 11 of our series, Look What We Found.
Today we’re spotlighting Horsemen Co. in historic downtown Bastrop, tucked in Harmony Ridge at 601 Chestnut Street. Founded on a love for art and function, this husband-and-wife team built a shop that feels like you stumbled upon a hidden jungle in the middle of town; home of our really cool, knowledgeable local plant whisperer.
Ben works the wood. Faith is the local plant lady of historic downtown Bastrop; ceramic artist, teacher, and the green thumb you want when your houseplant is giving you the silent treatment. She teaches plant-care classes and ceramic classes, and in the summer you will often find her classes at Neighbor’s. Come cooler weather, you can attend small, intimate classes at Horsemen Co. and step into their elevated greenhouse of a store.
And then there’s Jasper. That handsome black cat will tap his tail and say hi; the unofficial, sleepy greeter of this very quaint little shop. It’s luxurious and elevated; a place you want to linger, around wonderful people and even better conversation. Faith is a fantastic ceramic sculptor, and she’s tucked little nods to Little Shop of Horrors all over the place. We both happen to share a love for that movie, so of course I left humming a little Audrey II.
Faith is kind and easy to talk to. I learned more in a short visit than I expected, and I left with a new kitty friend. I’ll be back. Again and again.
If you want living art before you come hang out with us at Found Fine Art, or after, go see Faith at Horsemen Co. Tell them her friends at Found Fine Art sent you.

Alex’s pick of the week for “Artemis” by Kit Casati. this showstopper of a ring was one of the very first pieces I remember researching when I arrived at Found Fine Art I still remember sitting with it turning it in the daylight trying to take in the blue-green tourmaline, garnet, and diamonds. Artemis feels good to wear and it feels even better to watch someone put it on and go quiet for a second; that reaction never gets old. Artemis is worthy of your time. Come see why this beauty is my pick of the week here at Found Fine https://foundfa.com/product/artemis/
