Let us introduce Dick Cottrill for those that haven’t heard of him yet 😉

Dick is a wildlife enthusiast who finds it more than simply painting or drawing the animal, it’s capturing its beauty and majesty.

As a young boy hunting with his father he came across a bull moose foraging the bottom of a small lake and he was struck by presence and was instantly hooked.

Every painting he does captures a bit of that moment and transforms it into a beautiful piece of art.

Dick is also a retired art teacher for School District 2 and lives when former students stop in to say hi. Hint hint 😉

Stop in this Friday and to see Dick’s work and enjoy some light refreshments.

For the June ArtWalk, we will be showcasing stunning photography by Peter Herzog and wonderful watercolor paintings on canvas by Dick Cottrill. Our guest artist is photographer Tom Johnson, and our Billings Arts Association featured artists are Laura Marie Anderson and Phil Bell.
Join us for an artists’ reception with light refreshments from 5-9 PM. Many of our 15 artists will be present to display their work and discuss their artistic process. We invite you to come enjoy a lively evening in downtown Billings!

I’m sharing Bountiful 1, a tall, narrow work that brings floral energy and a vertical rhythm to a small wall. Rusty oranges and minty aquas bump up against pale pinks and cobalt accents, with little dark pockets that keep the whole thing grounded. It’s shown in a slim nickel float frame (the frame pictured is included), and it’s a nice option for a foyer, stairwell, or any narrow spot that could use a lively lift.
