Inspire youth and families to discover more about themselves, their communities and their world through interactive learning.

One of the only "small-town" children's museums in the nation, the Black Earth Children's Museum (BECM) is a unique and enriching place that inspires discovery, creativity and community! Designed and built with input from the local community , BECM is truly a community space. Exhibits are designed with a focus on reflecting the local culture and environment to promote learning and appreciation. Once open, the museum will offer engaging and unique play experiences throughout 7,000 square feet of the historic Patron's Mercantile Co-Op Building.

BECM's exhibits are designed primarily for children ages birth to 10 but offer excitement for all ages! In addition, we offer a wide variety of engaging programs and events.
