I worked on this one off and on for over a year and I just got the final photograph. It’s based on two different places I lived- California and Maine. There is a narrative here, but it’s open to interpretation. The woman is a new arrival, doesn’t have a place of her own, doesn’t yet belong. Her aloneness is echoed by the vulnerability of the cat on the corner. A storm has passed, casting a sense of change, the light is returning and yet, there seems to be a sign. The woman sees smoke. Where there’s smoke there is usually fire. But we can’t see it. We can’t see a lot of what’s happening right now…”Brackett Street, 50 x 66, acrylic on canvas. .
This is from Mark Beck page. I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing this. It’s stunning.
Mark has 4 beautiful paintings still available at Vault Gallery in Cambria.
