Today, we join millions across the nation and around the world in remembering the extraordinary life and legacy of Dolly Parton.
For more than seven decades, Dolly held a special place in the American story. Through her music, her unmistakable spirit, and her remarkable generosity, she brought people together across generations and backgrounds. Beyond the stage, her commitment to literacy, education, and helping others reflected a deeply held belief in the power of giving back.
Throughout her life, Dolly crossed paths with many of our nation’s First Ladies, including First Lady Rosalynn Carter and First Lady Barbara Bush, pictured here together. It is a wonderful reminder of three remarkable American women whose lives and legacies, each in their own way, were defined by service, compassion, and a desire to make life better for others.
Today, we remember Dolly not only for the songs she gave us, but for the joy she shared, the lives she touched, and the generosity that became such an important part of her legacy.
Her voice was unmistakable. Her heart was even bigger.
