Carnation Farms is a community-based hub for regenerative food and agriculture that educates and empowers the work of culinary, food, and farming professionals. Historically:
Nestled in the Snoqualmie Valley, the 818-acre historic farm property home to Carnation Farms has a deep history within the agricultural and greater Seattle community. In 1985 the Carnation Milk Company was sold by the Stuart

family to Nestle, along with the farm property. In 2008 the great grandson of E.A. Stuart, Elbridge Stuart III assisted in the purchase of the property on which a Paul Newman SeriousFun Camp operated programs for children with life-altering medical conditions. Following the camp’s departure from the historic farm in 2016, Elbridge Stuart III, Debra Stuart, Sarah Stuart Oderyd and Daniel Oderyd, inspired by E. Stuart’s philanthropic legacy, founded Carnation Farms, a non-profit serving the community. Today:

Break out the crudité, Garden Party Dip is back! Creamy, zingy, and perfect to dip whatever you desire, though we are partial to a crisp vegetable to balance out the richness of this farm favorite. Grab it this weekend!

We don't just raise one breed of sheep at Carnation Farms. We are running an experiment in real time.

Meet the Flockers: Finn/Romney, Avondale, and Katahdin — each chosen for something different.

🐑 Finn/Romney — prolific lambing, fine wool, milky and tender flavor
🐑 Avondale — exceptional meat quality, bred for the wet Pacific Northwest
🐑 Katahdin — hair sheep, no shearing needed, strong parasite resistance

We're comparing how each breed fares across pasture health, animal wellbeing, and — eventually — how they taste. (Spoiler: we ran a blind taste test. Stay tuned for results) Which breed are you most curious about? Drop it below.

This might lose us some followers but the answer is yes, our animals get vaccinated, and gladly! Part of humane animal care means making sure they stay healthy & protected from disease & parasites. As they grow up, our lambs get weighed and evaluated on an individual basis. Any vaccines they receive have done their job and left their system by the time harvest rolls around, so their vaccinations do not end up on your plate.

On June 1st, our Culinary Director joins a fireside chat on farming, sourcing, and ingredients as part of a half-day gathering at Thinkspace Seattle hosted by Topi Ventures and Altelan Capital. One room full of restaurant operators, founders, investors, and food system thinkers working through what technology is actually doing — and not doing — for this industry.

Over 200 lambs were born here this spring. That’s countless early mornings, lots and lots of fresh sawdust bedding, and coming up with over 200 names that start with B. Only 40 of these will eventually be processed for shares. First they have to grow.
