There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing a building come together beam by beam.

Our villagers have been hard at work on repairing Camlanns Tournament Gallery, shaping timbers by hand and bringing new life to a space that will serve Camlann for many years to come.

If you visit us during our Village Days on saturdays and sundays, you may even catch work continuing on the gallery and have the chance to watch and learn more about traditional timber framing techniques from the villagers themselves.

Happy Earth Day from Camlann

Life in a 14th-century village was closely tied to the land. What you ate, how you built your home, even how you spent your day—all of it depended on the seasons and the natural world around you. Taking care of the land wasn’t a trend, it was just part of everyday life.

That’s something we try to hold onto at Camlann. Whether it’s tending the gardens, working with natural materials, or simply spending time outdoors, we’re always reminded how connected we are to the world around us.

This Earth Day feels like a good excuse to slow down a bit—step outside, notice what’s growing, and appreciate the small things.

Here’s to taking care of the land, in ways big and small
