Day 3 of Sketch & Ink Foundations 🎨

Today students explored portraiture using carbon transfer, grayscale values, black watercolor ink, and an unexpected tool… forks!

From younger artists to teens, students learned how artists break complex subjects into simple shapes, values, and expressive marks. Using light, shadow, and contrast, they transformed blank paper into bold, striking portraits.

The growth we’ve witnessed in just three days has been incredible. ❤️ Thank you to all of our amazing young artists for making Week 1 such a success!

⚠️ Summer workshops are filling quickly —
7 SESSIONS are already FULL, and several others have only a few spots remaining.

🎨 What a fantastic first day of Summer Workshops!

Today students learned how to use a scale divider to accurately measure proportions and transfer what they see onto paper. For many artists, this was their first time using this tool—and their first experience working with charcoal.

The results were incredible.

By learning to observe carefully, compare proportions, and build values from light to dark, students discovered that realistic drawing is a skill that can be learned and practiced.

I’m so proud of the focus, effort, and growth I saw today. These artists are off to an amazing start! ✨

This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what they create next.

✨ Day 1: Proportion & Value
✨ Day 2: Animal Portraits with Water-Soluble Graphite
✨ Day 3: Expressive Portraits with Ink

❤️ Thank you to all of our amazing artists and families for making our first day such a success! (& to Round Trip Bike Shop for granting us the perfect space this summer for our kids of the community to create!)

Not every child creates the same way… and that’s exactly the point. 🎨✨

Some students carefully sketch every detail.
Some experiment with splatter, movement, and color.
Some layer paper and texture until an idea begins to emerge piece by piece.

At Divine Art Institute, creativity isn’t about making identical projects — it’s about learning how materials work, discovering new techniques, and building confidence through the process. 🖌️

From watercolor flow and ink work… to mixed media collage, texture layering, and expressive mark making… students get hands-on experience with REAL art materials in a studio-style environment designed to encourage imagination and creative growth.

Watching their personalities come through in the artwork just might be the best part. 💛

Summer workshops are continuing to fill, and a few sessions are already nearing capacity. 🙌 register at the link in our bio or DM us with any questions!

Creative Remix is all about transformation 🦋
Taking simple materials and a subject of your choice and turning them into layered, expressive artwork full of personality and color.

This week blends sketching, color, layering, mixed media, and expressive techniques into projects that feel bold, creative, and completely unique to each student.

It’s the perfect fit for students who love:
🖊 drawing
🎨 color
✂️ collage & texture
✨ experimenting creatively

Some sessions are already filling faster than others 👀 and I have a feeling this one is going to surprise people.

Honestly… I cannot WAIT to see what students create during this week, how they transform both the materials AND themselves as artists! 💛

Week 3 June 15-17 (M, T, W)
9-10:30am (8-12yrs old) or
11-12:30 (13-18yrs old) or

If you loved the look of our sketch + ink week, don’t worry—you didn’t miss your chance.

Week 6 carries that same style…
but adds in acrylic highlights, touches of gold leaf, and more room to experiment.

It’s a great fit for kids who want both:
✔ strong foundational skills
✔ and the freedom to make something more expressive

A different feel—but just as powerful.

July 6th-8th
9-10:30am, 11am-12:30pm, or 1-2:30pm

Week 1 is officially starting to close out 🙌

Our first class is full, and the remaining time slots are down to just a couple spots each.

This is usually how it goes—once one fills, the rest follow quickly.

If you were hoping for Week 1, now’s the time to grab one of those last spots.

✨ If your schedule is more flexible, there are still great openings in later weeks too (and most of those are 50-75% full as well).
🎨 Come for one week or a few

A few things that happened in class this week:

🎨 Someone discovered they love sponge painting more than brushes
🙌 Someone who “doesn’t like art” didn’t want to leave
🤩 Someone turned scraps into their favorite piece of the day
🎨 And more than one kid asked, “can I take this home today?” 🥹

This is what I mean when I say every class is different.

No two kids create the same thing.
No two days look the same.
It’s one of our favorite things about what we do.

If your kid loves to create (or just needs a place to try), there’s still room in a few sessions—but they’re going quickly.

🎨 Come for one week or a few
