This "Tough Topics" poster from the Shreve Memorial Library in Shreveport, Louisiana is especially powerful during Banned Books Week, an annual celebration of the freedom to read!

For two inspiring books about girls fighting against censorship in schools - both for ages 9 to 12 - we highly recommend "Ban This Book" (https://www.amightygirl.com/ban-this-book) and "Property of the Rebel Librarian" (https://www.amightygirl.com/property-of-the-rebel-librarian)

For two excellent book series for tweens and teens that tackle a variety of challenging life topics, we highly recommend the Smart Girl's Guides for tween girls (http://amgrl.co/2xpFKOg) and the Instant Help Solutions Guides for teen girls and boys (https://amgrl.co/2mcTz1A)

For a thought-provoking young adult novel exploring school book banning, we recommend "Suggested Reading" for ages 14 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/suggested-reading

For more stories that celebrate the value that books bring to our lives -- and the libraries and librarians that help make them available to so many people -- visit our blog post, "35 Mighty Girl Stories about Books, Libraries, and Literacy," at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11656
