What’s on your menu this Father’s Day? On this day in 1953, patrons who picked the “Father’s Day Special” at Airport 77 were served roast beef, vegetables, homemade rolls with butter, a drink, and apple cobbler for dessert. Airport 77 restaurant at Douglas Municipal Airport — today’s CLT — was one of Charlotte’s top dining spots, drawing locals and visitors with its well-known dishes.

Do you have any Charlotte aviation artifacts tucked away? Consider donating them to the Sullenberger Aviation Museum. Our trained collections staff care for these treasures so they’re preserved for generations. Email [email protected] to schedule your donation appointment.

Honor Dad with a Flight Path Brick!

Looking for a Father's Day gift with lasting meaning?

A personalized Flight Path Brick is a unique way to honor a father, grandfather, veteran, mentor, or aviation enthusiast while supporting the museum's mission.

Each engraved brick becomes a permanent part of the museum grounds, creating a lasting tribute that future visitors will enjoy for years to come.

Whether commemorating military service, celebrating a love of aviation, or simply honoring someone special, a Flight Path Brick leaves a legacy that extends far beyond Father's Day.
