ArtsConnect is a program designed especially for adults 60 and older. Through weekly classes, participants explore a variety of mediums that change from month to month, while continuing to build and strengthen foundational art skills over time. Classes have included everything from drawing and printmaking to watercolor and more.

ArtsConnect creates space to connect with others, share ideas, and enjoy the process together. The studio environment is accessible and welcoming, and classes are thoughtfully priced to ensure participation is within reach, making it easy to stay creative and connected.

Jennifer Aitchison: Glimpses Along the Dunes
May 8 - August 31, 2026

Artist Reception:
Thursday, June 25, 5–7 PM

Das Gallery
at Country Inn and Suites by Radisson
2020 LaPorte Avenue, Valparaiso

CAC is pleased to continue our partnership with the Das Gallery in welcoming local painter Jennifer Aitchison for a summer exhibition. Jennifer begins her work outdoors, where her love of painting and the natural world come together. Some pieces are created en plein air, while others are developed in the studio from sketches and photographs made through direct observation. Each painting starts with an experience of light, air, and atmosphere that feels both immediate and quietly expansive. In a world that constantly demands our attention, she is drawn to landscapes that invite pause and stillness.

Julie Miller will be teaching two upcoming alcohol ink-based classes at Chesterton Art Center. Julie is a mixed media artist based in Crown Point. Her current body of work is a testament to her boundless creativity and unwavering passion for the natural world. Utilizing a combination of acrylics, alcohol inks, and watercolors, she brings a kaleidoscope of vivid colors and textures to the canvas, paper, and yupo surfaces. Drawing inspiration from her local surroundings in Northwest Indiana, as well as my travels to the majestic California mountains, her aim is to capture the essence of nature and its ever-changing beauty.
