Introducing “The Javi Collection” to Evoke Limited!
Javi is a Chicago based Mexican artist who sees color like a language and treats every detail like it matters, and it shows!

Their first capsule with Evoke Limited is three limited prints and a shirt, each one built with that same precision. All proceeds of “La Dama” prints benefits the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

Shop the limited capsule collection now on our website or in person, and snag your own piece of Javi’s work!

Promise(d) is opening its pages! & are producing a companion zine to the current exhibition curated by Teddy Sandler (.tdy), and we want writers like you to be apart of it! We’re looking for poets, essayists, critics, and experimenters!

If the work on these walls moved something in you, or if you’ve been sitting with questions about cultural mythology, broken promises, and what we dare to imagine next, this is your invitation.

The publication unfolds in three movements: what was promised? What is a promise? And what can we promise?

Submissions close May 10th! Form is in our Linktree and on our website, evokechi.com

Meet the featured Artist apart of the Promise(d) line up, Jeremy Carter ( ). Jeremy Carter is a Chicago based painter & fiber artist that centers their work around found objects. Through up sourcing materials he uses a wide array of items to convey structures from a different era whether it be a futuristic dystopia or a time that is no more. The destination you are taken to is meant to evoke emotion or question it’s what the tool was made for. Ensuring durability through tension is a reoccurring theme throughout his practice. His work has been shown throughout the greater Chicago area.

One more promise to keep. A surprise addition joins Promise(d). Newly signed, Evoke Artist, Brooke Raven ()! When an artist’s work speaks this directly to the show, we knew we had to make room!

Raven’s work brings additional permanence to digital skidmarks, and the sloppy wordsmiths responsible for them.

Joining a list of talented artists with mediums spanning from: sculpture, painting, audio, video, and performance. This exhibition weaves together traditional and new media to represent a bouquet of desire.

STHESIA invites you to Promise(d). Curated by the amazing Teddy Sandler (.tdy) Opening March 28th, this exhibition combines a revisionist history and speculative storytelling to re-contextualize what being alive in America could mean.

More on Brooke: Raven is a central Illinois native, Chicago-based painter. Raven carries a residual fascination with small town social dynamics from her formative years into adulthood. The small towns of the rural midwest, while they have their fleeting moments of charm and appeal, also house a sour perpetual stew of conservative values, chronic gossipers, and substance abuse. When it’s time to stir the pot, the information that was once confined to a conversation on the porch or at the bar can now be memorialized and catalogued in a Facebook post in an instant.

Meet the next featured artist apart of this show, Araceli Zuniga ()

Araceli Zuniga is a Mexican-American artist based in the midwest whose work is defined by intimacy and play. Through expansive materiality, Zuniga uses child-like qualities to encourage a reflective process as a mediation between self and others.

Zuniga’s work has been featured at Tala, FLXST, Povos, Genesis galleries, and now, Evoke Gallery.

They were a member of the Underbelly collective based in Madison, WI, as well as the LUNA collective in Milwaukee, WI. Zuniga completed a fellowship at the BlackPaint Studios’ Creative Leadership Program in Milwaukee followed by a growing collaboration with Communication, a Madison-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering a vibrant creative community. After receiving their bachelor’s degree at SAIC, they completed a residency with Chuquimarca, an art library project based in Chicago and attended ACRE, a cooperative residency based in Steuben, Wisconsin. Zuniga is currently a resident at Parlour and Ramp located in West Pilsen, Chicago and at Chicago Art Department.

All these works are tied around an exploration of what is lost and promised in the current moment. Artists address this across painting, sculpture, and activated performances, providing an attempt to speculate, meditate, and materially reorient towards the future.
