Basketshop Gallery

Basketshop Gallery Created by artist-couple Eli Walker and Kelly Kroener Basketshop is a continuation of previous endeavors by the artist-couple Eli Walker and Kelly Kroener.

With their time spent in Dallas, the couple initiated an artist collective known as SCAB that focused on empowering artists to create their own venues for exhibition. They also ran a domestic themed gallery from their living room called Homeland Security for the five years they resided in a shotgun shack house in The Cedars neighborhood of Dallas. Their time spent with these projects garnered them

recognition from both the local scene as well as internationally, as their attitude towards the virtue of hospitality in the art world came to define a radical viewpoint in the critical discourse. As recent transplants to the Westwood neighborhood of Cincinnati, the couple is expanding their vision of alternative practices to venture into small-business as artist-model. With this new endeavor, Basketshop is exploring the connections between provincial forms of artistic culture and how it is placed in the broader context of personal, historical relevance.

Open hours today Sat 5/16 3-6:30pm .pap1 A Tension EcoNomy 💙✨💙✨💙✨………………Transitioning towards modes of slowness, labor, and material intimacy, Contrario’s work stands in direct opposition to the speed of algorithmic consumption and the disposability of contemporary capitalism. “This process is inherently slow,” they write. “In the making of something, haciendo algo, the delayed gratification pits it against the dopamine-driven algorithm, against the convenience of a megalomart.” The work offers a meditation on systems of extraction while imagining futures beyond them.

Open hours today Friday April 3, 2026 1-4pm Please swing by to visit Wild Bergamot by while it is still here. Closing will be Sat April 11 1-6pm. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸For her show at BasketShop, Lu reflects on the seasonal change from Winter to Spring by referencing Wild Bergamot, a specific type of flower native to this region. Apart from her widely known paintings that meditate on musical compositions with her Melody series of mandalas, Lu has an accompanying practice of variations that roots her experience of the natural world through gardening. Wild Bergamot is a resilient part of Spring’s panoply of colors, thriving in poorer soils, attracting many insects and acting as a tincture for minor ailments. Lu’s engagement with gardening as a parallel practice situates color not merely as a formal concern but as a lived, seasonal, and materially grounded experience. Color becomes a relational phenomenon shaped by climate, growth cycles, and embodied observation rather than a purely optical or theoretical construct.
