Cincinnati Art Underground is excited to present Keith Lemley’s installation The Woods, as part of the European Cultural Centre’s exhibition, Personal Structures, during the 2026 Venice Biennale! In this work, Lemley brings together neon sculpture and natural hand-harvested wood to create an immersive environment that invites viewers to consider the relationship between the natural world and human intervention.

The Woods consists of freestanding, neon sculptures shaped like axes alongside several tree trunk bases that anchor illuminated forms. Arranged throughout the room, glowing axes line the walls while others emerge from the trunks positioned at the center, allowing visitors to walk among the works and experience the shifting atmosphere created by light, material, and spatial movement.

The contrast between raw tree trunks and the precision of neon light reflects the artist’s ongoing interest in the connections between nature and scientific thought. Lemley sources wood from fallen trees on his family’s land in West Virginia. By incorporating the physical history of his landscape into the sculptures, he creates a direct link between the environment where the artist has experienced life and its transformation into an art object.
Lemley uses neon as a material to investigate how opposing elements can exist within a unified spatial framework. Light becomes a physical sculpture that traces hidden structures, while the wood holds the organic processes of life. The Woods brings to the forefront the interconnection between human beings and the natural world.

This year at SCOPE Miami Beach, we’ll be highlighting Adrian Zavala’s work alongside Jason Erler and Andrey Kozakov in booth D007!

Adrian Zavala’s work explores the symbolic power of geometry, drawing inspiration from mythology and the universal shapes found throughout nature, architecture, and spiritual traditions.

Central to his practice is the hexagon, a form he sees as both dynamic and balanced, embodying the principles of body, soul, emotion, higher consciousness, instinct, and will. By pushing this shape to its visual and conceptual limits, Zavala transforms it into a contemporary icon, revealing its enduring resonance across time and culture.

We’re thrilled to showcase Andrey Kozakov’s work at SCOPE Miami Beach this year, presented alongside Jason Erler and Adrian Zavala in booth D007!

Andrey Kozakov is a Ukrainian American artist whose paintings and sculptures explore the interplay of time, space, and memory. His architectural works, which range from dynamic cityscapes to imagined dreamlike environments, reflect his interest in world building and the evolving nature of remembrance. His interactive life sized cabinets draw on Eastern European myth to create spaces of discovery and transformation.

Trained initially in Kyiv and later developing his practice in Miami and Cincinnati, Kozakov has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, with a practice that continues to expand across painting, sculpture, and immersive installation.

Jason Erler is a mixed media artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio, who draws from mythology and the occult as well as Saturday morning cartoons and comic books. He creates vibrant, color saturated acrylic paintings, often utilizing other materials such as glitter paper and reflective surfaces to add texture and depth.

Beginning from an introspective place, Erler engages with darker narrative themes drawn from myth and fantasy, transforming them into visually striking, playful compositions. With a painting practice spanning more than twenty five years, his work has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest.

Join us at VOLTA Art Fair from 18 June - 22 June, for "Flooded House", a solo showing of works by US-based, Ukrainian artist, Andrey Kozakov.

With “Flooded House”, Kozakov immerses viewers into a landscape of architecture and monuments, abandoned and impacted by human destruction. Created in the context of the war on Ukraine, some of the works suggest the aftermath of disastrous events, but allude to both ecological and human causes.

VOLTA Art Fair
Booth B3
Hall 4.U, Messeplatz 21
Basel, Switzerland

Andrey Kozakov's work delves into questions of identity, culture, perception and memory. Through architectural paintings that portray real or imagined scenes encompassing dynamic city views, modern buildings, and remembered landscapes, Kozakov builds worlds with open interpretations. The timeless mood of his dreamlike compositions question the changing nature of memory and suggest an ongoing narrative.
