Crown Point’s Memorial Day Solemn Tour was a wonderful morning that honored those who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces. We highlighted the American Patriots who fought for independence and had direct connection to our community. Many thanks to Margaret Scuderi, who assisted me in this task.
At this time, I wish to acknowledge the following people and organizations: Joseph Bodette, Rev. Michael Begnoche, Sara Smith, NYS Department of Veterans Services, Douglas Woods, Eliana Lonngren, William Buell, Matthew Russell, Alison Russell, Kathy Hyatt, Fred Provoncha, Patrick Kiely, Ian Lonngren and Clayton D Menser Sr, Supervisor Town of Crown Point.
Thanks go to the Fire Police from Crown Point Fire Department for their traffic control at the Factoryville Bridge.
Special thanks to the members of the Crown Point Central School chorus who sang at each stop. CPCS Music teacher, Drew Malone, for his rendition of Taps. The members and leaders of Troop #70 Boy Scouts of America who provided the color guard and lead us in The Pledge of Allegiance at each tour stop.
Jodi Gibbs, Bruce Burns, Roxanne Burns, Pat Titus and Clayton Menser, members of the Crown Point Memorial Day Committee. Your support of the Solemn Tour and new sound system is appreciated.
Many, many thanks to the caretakers of all the solemn places we visited that morning. Your work does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.
Kevin O’Hara and his helpers, for hanging the Hometown Hero Banners in our community – thank you.
I wish to extend a special thank you to Jackie Popp for setting up the sound system this morning.
All who traveled with us on Monday morning, we hope you will bring your family and friends next year for our 159th Memorial Day, one of the oldest continuous observances in America.
Thank you to all our nation’s veterans, and to those service members who did not return home. Crown Point will always remember you and say your name!
