The STAR Eco Station is an environmental science museum, an exotic wildlife rescue center, and a haven for endangered and illegally-trafficked exotic animals confiscated by the U.S. The STAR Eco Station has grown tremendously since it began in 1997! and Katya Bozzi, and their children, Erick, Jr. and Katiana, founded the STAR Eco Station in Culver City, CA, as a division of STAR, Inc. Working in

collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other government and environmental organizations, STAR Eco Station provides a last chance for illegal or abandoned at-risk exotic wildlife, as well as environmental education outreach programs in over 40 California school districts. Visitors to the STAR Eco Station experience amazing hands on lessons in ecology and environmentalism through breathtaking encounters with exotic birds, reptiles, mammals and ocean life in a tropical jungle setting. Environmental partnerships enhance the station with discovery exhibits from organizations such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Surfrider Foundation, and Santa Monica BayKeepers. The STAR Eco Station's mission is "Preservation through Education." It carries out this mission every day by educating students, visitors to the STAR Eco Station and community members about the preservation of the environment and the inter-dependence of all living things.

Did you know sugar gliders a big fans of the Black Eyed Peas? Ft. Reka (albino) & Stella, our Sugar Gliders!

Sugar gliders are omnivores, eating a variety of fruits 🍎 veggies 🥕 , & insects 🪱! With the help from their patagium, sugar gliders have the ability to glide up to 150 feet! (That’s about half the length of a football field 🏈!)

Note: **Albino animals are born with a genetic condition that prevents its body from producing melanin. Since Reka is albino, her eyesight has began to go, but that hasn’t stopped her from exploring around her enclosure, running on her wheel, & finding food!

Ft. Dobby the Chinchilla

Did you know chinchillas have the densest fur of any land mammal? Humans typically have between 1-2 hair per follicle, whereas chinchillas will have around 80-100 hairs per follicle! Due to the density, their hair takes a long time to dry, which can cause them to become sick. Instead, chinchillas maintain their coat with volcanic ash baths! 🛁

Amphibians are an important bio indicator for their environment 🌳 as they have permeable skin. Unfortunately, nearly one-third of species are threatened with extinction.
