Note: **Albino animals are born with a genetic condition that prevents its body from producing melanin. Since Reka is albino, her eyesight has began to go, but that hasn’t stopped her from exploring around her enclosure, running on her wheel, & finding food!

It’s laundry day! 🫧
Ft. Dobby the Chinchilla

Did you know chinchillas have the densest fur of any land mammal? Humans typically have between 1-2 hair per follicle, whereas chinchillas will have around 80-100 hairs per follicle! Due to the density, their hair takes a long time to dry, which can cause them to become sick. Instead, chinchillas maintain their coat with volcanic ash baths! πŸ›

Happy Save the Frogs Day! 🐸

Amphibians are an important bio indicator for their environment 🌳 as they have permeable skin. Unfortunately, nearly one-third of species are threatened with extinction.

Conservation organizations like work to educate and spread awareness on the importance of frogs and amphibians in their environments, and protect their populations. Learn more at savethefrogs.com/day
