Something special is taking shape inside the Ferleman Gallery.

Today’s Saturday Samples at RootsTable offered another glimpse into the larger vision: handmade savory hand pies, prepared with fresh ingredients and served among contemporary art, creative conversation, and the energy of a working cultural space.

Guests sampled two versions:
• Wayne’s Country Fresh Meat pie with caramelized onions and blue cheese dressing
• Granny Smith apple, brie cheese, and cherry balsamic dressing

What’s emerging at the gallery is more than separate experiences living under one roof. It’s a place where exhibitions, live performances, and thoughtfully prepared food intersect naturally. An evening might begin with dinner at RootsTable, continue with a concert at Gallery Stage, and unfold surrounded by rotating exhibitions throughout the gallery.

Art, music, and hospitality — all designed to be experienced together.

There’s something compelling about hearing an artist explain not just what they create—but why they create it.

Dr. Ferleman recently sat down with acclaimed abstract painter Allan Gorman for a conversation about structure, process, inspiration, and the ideas behind his work currently on view at Ferleman Gallery. Allan’s paintings explore industrial forms, architecture, memory, and abstraction in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally recognizable.

This interview offers a closer look into the mind of an artist whose work continues to resonate with collectors and audiences across the country.

Watch the interview and step deeper into the world behind the paintings.

Missed Saturday Sample? Here’s a taste of what went down at RootsTable at the Ferleman Gallery 🌮 House-made masa tortillas, tacos two ways—Lion’s Mane mushrooms and slow-cooked beef shank—all locally sourced and topped with our signature slaw and five bold, scratch-made sauces. It was a great afternoon of food, flavor, and community—keep an eye out, we’ll be doing it again next Saturday.

Today, Rebecca Ferleman sat down with contemporary artist Terri Yacovelli to explore the inspiration and creative process behind her exhibition at Ferleman Gallery, Awakening in Color: Explorations in Encaustic. Together, they discuss Terri’s luminous encaustic technique, her powerful use of color and light, and the recurring themes of passage, threshold, and transformation that shape her work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the opening reception with contemporary artist Terri Yacovelli — it was a wonderful evening and so inspiring to see such a great crowd celebrating her work.

We’d love to invite you back today at 1:00 PM for a special live, in-person audience interview with Terri at the Ferleman Gallery.

Terri will share more about how her encaustic paintings explore inner landscapes through abstraction, luminous color, and intuitive mark-making — and she’ll speak about the fascinating process behind this ancient and expressive medium.

If you’ve ever been curious about encaustic art, or simply want to hear directly from an artist deeply devoted to her craft, this is a rare opportunity to ask questions and experience her work on a deeper level.

Join us today, Saturday, February 7th at 1:00 PM — we hope to see you there.
