The Warehouse is a project initiated by Howard Rachofsky and Vernon Faulconer to make their collections available to curators, scholars, critics and students, and to open new dialogues about postwar Modern and contemporary art. At the heart of the project is an adapted industrial building on 14105 Inwood Road in Dallas, containing art storage facilities, an extensive library, and 18,000 square fee

t of flexible exhibition space. Here, The Warehouse presents carefully considered, original exhibitions of works from the Rachofsky and Faulconer collections, complemented by art acquired jointly with the Dallas Museum of Art and works on loan from other significant institutions and private collections. These changing exhibitions are developed specifically to suggest new perspectives on art and invite fresh questions that expand accepted notions of history. Devoted to education, The Warehouse offers special programs and public days; hosts visiting artists and art professionals; and publishes important new scholarship.

𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘳𝘵, curated by Simone Krug (Simone Krug), brings together works by more than seventy-five artists to consider the vulnerabilities, contradictions, and possibilities of the human body.

Curated by Mika Yosh*take (Mika Yosh*take), 𝘞𝘈𝘙𝘌𝘏𝘖𝘜𝘚𝘌:01 𝘠𝘶𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘪 𝘠𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘪 explores the borders, symbols, and national myths that shape ideas of identity and belonging.

On Friday, September 25 at 6:30 PM, join us for a special preview tour of 𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 with guest curator Simone Krug. On Saturday, September 26 at 2 PM, artist Yukinori Yanagi (Yanagi Yukinori) and curator Mika Yosh*take will discuss 𝘞𝘈𝘙𝘌𝘏𝘖𝘜𝘚𝘌:01 𝘠𝘶𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘪 𝘠𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘪.

Beginning September 26, The Warehouse is open every Saturday from 12 PM to 5 PM. Admission is free.

The Warehouse welcomes high school, university, architecture, museum, and organized art education groups for free guided tours, offering students and educators an opportunity to experience works from The Warehouse collection together and engage more deeply with the ideas, artists, and conversations shaping our exhibitions.

Beginning September 26, explore our upcoming exhibitions 𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘳𝘵 and WAREHOUSE:01 𝘠𝘶𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘪 𝘠𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘪 with your students.

The Warehouse hosted its second exhibition in February 2014, 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘭 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘴: 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘑𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 1950𝘴, 60𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 70𝘴.

Curator Allan Schwartzman presented Gallery 3 as a cohabitation of Italian Arte Povera and Japanese Mono-ha masterworks, exploring the resonances of these movements: an interest in raw and common materials, often explored through their physical interactions.

Michelangelo Pistoletto’s 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘭𝘪 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘪 𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘢 (𝘎𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘴) combines a classic symbol of beauty with a mound of modern detritus; Nobuo Sekine’s unlikely marriage of materials in canvas and stone creates a pendulous form, one mirrored in Luciano Fabro’s marble suspended from steel; and Jiro Takamatsu’s vinyl sculpture, an intricately constructed surface, appears as a seemingly casual heap of wrinkles.

𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘭 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘴 explored both confluences and differences between the cultural worlds of Japan and Italy as both countries grappled with the aftermath of World War II, defining their connection to their own cultural pasts and their relationship to art made elsewhere in the world at that time.

Join us this fall at The Warehouse!

Opening September 26 and on view through January 30, 2027, two new exhibitions consider the body, identity, and the boundaries that shape how we understand ourselves and one another.

𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘳𝘵

Bringing together works by more than seventy-five artists, 𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 considers the vulnerabilities and contradictions of the human body. Across generations, geographies, and media, the exhibition looks to the figure as a site of identity, psychology, consciousness, and transformation.

At a moment when rapidly evolving technologies continue to complicate our understanding of what it means to be human, 𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 returns to the material body in all its imperfection: fragile, mutable, flawed, and ultimately hopeful.

The sixth iteration of The Warehouse’s single-artist exhibition series presents the work of Japanese artist Yukinori Yanagi (Yanagi Yukinori) whose practice has spent decades interrogating borders, national identity, and the symbols through which ideas of belonging are constructed.

From ant farms in which national flags slowly dissolve as living colonies move through colored sand to earthworks connecting historically charged sites across continents, Yanagi creates systems that are precise in their construction yet ultimately surrendered to forces beyond the artist’s control. The exhibition traces a practice grounded in movement and permeability, asking what remains when seemingly fixed boundaries begin to break apart.

Today, we’re revisiting our 2018 exhibition 𝘛𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴, guest curated by Mika Yosh*take (Mika Yosh*take) through On Kawara's ‘6.AUG.1976’ from his 𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 series, one of several date paintings included in the exhibition.

Bringing together more than 100 works by 61 artists, 𝘛𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 explored how the "logic of place" shaped postwar artistic practice across the globe. Rather than treating space as fixed, the exhibition considered topology as a way of thinking through transformation: forms that expand, contract, distort, and shift while remaining fundamentally continuous.

Drawing connections between artists working across generations, geographies, and disciplines, the exhibition examined ideas of process, materiality, perception, gravity, entropy, and the body's relationship to space. Together, these works proposed that change itself is what gives form its meaning.

Each summer, The Warehouse partners with the Nasher Sculpture Center (Nasher Sculpture Center) for our Summer Institute for Teens, a week-long program hosted at both institutions that encourages high school students to explore new ideas and connect with peers around modern and contemporary art.

During this year’s Institute, students discussed works on view at The Warehouse by Yosh*taka Amano, Janine Antoni, and Hugh Hayden; received a personal tour from artist Nic Nicosia (Nic Nicosia) of his solo exhibition, 𝘕𝘪𝘤 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘢: 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭, at the Nasher Sculpture Center; and visited Dallas Contemporary (Dallas Contemporary) to view the exhibition 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘰: 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢 and hear from its curator, Thomas Feulmer (Thomas Feulmer). Field trips included visits to galleries 12.26 and Erin Cluley Gallery to view current exhibitions and meet art world professionals Brittani Arnold and Victoria Brill. Each afternoon featured hands-on workshops with local artists, where students learned and practiced materials and techniques including block and screen printing, paper clay sculpting, and painting on plastic structures lit from within.

Reflecting on the week, one student shared that “connecting with other students my age that are also interested in art has been the most meaningful,” while another described the program as “filled with education, fun, and inspiration.”

Special thanks to Francisco Moreno Taboada, eli, Jacob Taylor Gibson, and all the artists and museum professionals who met with our students this year, and to the Nasher Sculpture Center for their continued partnership on one of our favorite programs!

It was a pleasure to spend the evening with so many new and familiar faces as we celebrated the final days of our spring exhibitions, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸: 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 and WAREHOUSE:01 𝘠𝘰𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰. Throughout the night, visitors explored the galleries, connected through conversation, and experienced these remarkable presentations together one final time.

Today marks the close of our exhibition 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸: 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 curated by , a presentation of works that examined the enduring visual and psychological language of film noir. To everyone who joined us throughout the exhibition's run, thank you for being part of its story!

In gallery 10, works by Troy Brauntuch, Cris Brodahl, Nancy Grossman, Ann Hamilton, and Maja Ruznic mirror the charged atmosphere that film noir perfected, one built by desire and dread, intimacy and danger, bo***ge and release. Faces emerge from shadows, bodies appear constrained or fragmented, and the human figure oscillates between vulnerability and power. Together, these works echo the enshrined personas of film noir actors and actresses, icons whose glamour, menace, and fragility shaped the movement's emotional vocabulary.

“Fine art is the field where I get to express my emotions... however, all the work I made in illustration or for Final Fantasy is also expressed in one way or another. Deep inside me, there isn’t a clear line between the two.” — Yosh*taka Amano

This is the last week to view Part 2 of WAREHOUSE:01 𝘠𝘰𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰, an exhibition that celebrates Amano’s widespread success as a commercial artist across the fields of animation, illustration, and videogames. On view is 𝘉𝘪𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨, Amano’s sweeping and raucous depiction of the universe of the Final Fantasy XV video game franchise.

Part 2 of 𝘠𝘰𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰 is on view through July 18, 2026.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸: 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 features a series of six works by Nic Nicosia. These images began as black-and-white photographs the artist captured while in graduate school at UNT, exploring mundane structures in and around Denton, TX. The artist later altered the photos with colored paper and paint before re-photographing them. The resulting images fluctuate between illusion and reality, warmth and deterioration.

This is the last week to see Nicosia’s works in 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸: 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳. You can see more of Nicosia's work in his solo exhibition, 𝘕𝘪𝘤 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘢: 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭, on view at the Nasher Sculpture Center until August 16, 2026.
