The Cartwright family sold their c***r mill to the Kellogg family in September 1934. The Davison C***r Mill was first established in 1917 by J. F. Cartwright and his son Charles I. Cartwright. It had been at its present location for five years (just west of M-15 and Flint Street) went it was sold. Kellogg's Market then sold it to Master's Orchard which was mentioned in an earlier post.
The actual c***r mill press is now at Crossroads Village in the Master's Orchard barn. I was told that the press was made by Hydraulic Press Manufacturing Company in Mount Gilead, Ohio, which was owned by Augutus Q. Tucker. They started making apple c***r presses in 1877.

The building we know as the BP Gas Station on the Northwest corner of M-15 and Lapeer Road was built in August 1956. Davison Oil and Gas (sold Shell gasoline) built the new building next to the old gas station which was torn down along with a house to make room. Chuck Rawson then leased the gas station from them. This article is from the August 2, 1956 issue of The Davison Index.

How many of you ate at Dodd's Restaurant? It was located at 302 Main Street, phone number 70. It eventually became Robin's and then Archie's before the building was destroyed by fire. The Secretary of State Building now sits at that location. Here is an advertisement celebrating their one year anniversary! From the August 9, 1956 issue of The Davison Index.

Okay, we have a mystery that we need help to solve. We are looking for an individual that was on Lapeer Street in Davison before 1990 and born between 1885 and 1920. Their initials were PLH (but they could have reversed first/middle names to LPH). They could have been visiting or lived in the area. Any ideas?

Also, we are still looking for copies of The Davison Index from 2011 to 2016 that we could borrow. Do we have anyone with copies?

I had always wondered what C & C was for in C & C Super Market!
Culley Berry and Carl Stephen combined forces to open a new store with its' Grand Opening on the 27th, 28th and 29th of September 1956. It was in the same location as the Kroger store, 320 North Main street. Mr. Berry had been the Kroger manager for three years and Mr. Stephen had run his Carl's Meat market before he sold it for the new partnership. From the September 27, 1956 issue of The Davison Index.
