Saturday Work Days Are Now Held Weekly!

We’re excited to announce that Volunteer Work Days at Frontier Village & Museum will now be held every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Projects may include landscaping, grounds maintenance, painting, trash pickup, repairs to historic structures, and other tasks around the Village. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, and any tools or equipment you can bring are always appreciated.

If a work day needs to be cancelled due to weather or other circumstances, we will post an announcement on both our page and our website.

As we approach our 60th Birthday, we have updated our tour procedures to ensure guest safety, as well as allow for some much needed maintenance and repairs to our homes and cabins.

Due to an unfortunate increase in theft and damage to our cabins and artifacts, the self guided tour is for viewing of the outside of the homes only. Guests may still book a guided tour to view the inside of the homes by

Homes will also be open during our Living History events!

Frontier Village & Museum is proud to be 100% Volunteer operated and supported primarily by donated funds.

As such, we thank you for your understanding that our small but passionate volunteer base is working tirelessly to open the homes back up for the self guided tour.

Our primary goals are to
- Decrease theft and damage of our artifacts while increasing visibility through improved barriers
- Beautify and restore the exteriors of the cabins and protect them against the elements
- Improve our pathways throughout the Village
- and most importantly maintain the safety and satisfaction of our guests, donors, and volunteers

🌾 This Summer, Let Your Kids Step Back in Time 🌾
In a world full of screens and notifications, what if your child got to spend their mornings doing something truly different — churning butter, building fires, sewing, and baking apple pie from scratch?
Frontier Village & Museum is hosting the Frontier Experience Summer Camp this July, and it's unlike any summer camp you've seen. Kids ages 8–12 will fully de-modernize — leaving behind phones, tablets, and gadgets — and spend three mornings dressed, playing, and living in the shoes of a real child on the Texas frontier. Think pioneer clothes, hands-on skills, old-fashioned games, and the kind of simple joy that no app can replicate.
It's screen-free, creativity-building, and genuinely one-of-a-kind. 🤠

🏕️ Camp 1 — July 7–9 | 9AM–12PM
Butter churning, marbles & jacks, pioneer chores, sewing, gardening, fire building, and apple pie making.

🏕️ Camp 2 — July 14–16 | 9AM–12PM
Blacksmithing, homemade ice cream, jumping rope, quilting, square dancing, campfire cornbread, and dominoes.

If your child joined us for camp 1 last year, be sure to register for camp 2 for all new activities and experiences!

Camp fee is $100 per child | $85 for members

Our volunteers took a field trip to Fort Inglish Village Museum today to see their beautifully preserved cabins! We learned a lot and will definitely be using the knowledge they graciously shared to help preserve our own cabins!

If you’ve never been to the center it is an absolutely breathtaking facility with a wonderfully designed and impactful museum portraying the Choctaw heritage.

There is also a lovely gift shop, a classroom where they host traditional skills classes, and a delicious cafe restaurant you just HAVE to try.

It’s the perfect place to spend the day with your family and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of the Choctaw people and culture!

Calling all young adventurers ages 8–12! Get ready for 3 days of hands-on pioneer fun at Frontier Village & Museum in Denison, TX!

From butter churning and weaving to open-fire cooking and old-fashioned games, campers will experience life on the frontier like never before. 🪵🔥🥧

We will host 2 camps with different activities each week. If your child attended camp 1 last summer, be sure to sign up for camp 2 for brand new activities!
