Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association

Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association We are an all-volunteer organization founded in 1973 and located on Maryland's Eastern Shore to help preserve the historical Eastern Shore rural heritage
(237)

Tuckahoe is a non-profit, all volunteer organization with thousands of hours of labor donated each year in the administration of the Association, to clear and maintain the grounds, to build and maintain the buildings, and to collect and restore the old equipment and display it so that future generations will be able to learn about their proud heritage. From the founders to the present, the Associa

tion's goal is to not only display the equipment, but to operate it during shows and reunions. This not only keeps the equipment from getting lost, it motivates the younger generation to participate, so they can learn the skills and crafts of their forefathers. Farming techniques and skills that once supported the rural communities will be handed down to future generations. Collecting, restoring, displaying, and operating this equipment pays tribute to our forefathers, especially those who took part in the free enterprise system. Through their ingenuity, they developed the machinery that made the American farmer and industry more productive and safer, and reduced the hard labor required to produce the food and goods needed by the growing population.

This is our newsletter which went out to members this week. It gives a wrap up of last year and a brief note about what's coming up for each event. As with all things some changes have already been made just since this mailing. In the Annual Show section there is a brief note about some possible parking changes. After the Board discussed the issue, it has been decided to leave the parking as it was last year. This means the handicapped parking will be on the back driveway on the left past the ditch. This lot is across from the Machine Shop. The tractor area will be on both sides of the back driveway prior to the ditch. As always, we look forward to seeing everyone during the Show July 9-12th.

On this Memorial Day may you enjoy each moment with family and friends and remember those that gave all for our freedom.
