Philanthropy was at its best this morning at the Historical Society in Estero, Florida. Paul Schryver of the College of Life Foundation presented a donation to the Board of Directors for the Estero Historical Society to save, move, and restore the 1916 Alvarez/Smith House. We are deeply grateful to the College of Life for their continued support of the Estero Historical Society. We look forward to the Alvarez/Smith House joining our campus in the Estero Park soon.

Docent Spotlight 💙

History has always been an important part of Lori's life. Long before moving to Estero, she served as a board member for her local historical society in Wisconsin, where she helped preserve and share the stories of her community. When she and her husband retired to Estero, joining the Estero Historical Society felt like a natural next chapter.

After a career that included traveling the world, Lori's love of history only grew stronger. Today, she enjoys discovering the fascinating stories of Estero and Southwest Florida and sharing them with visitors to the Cottage Museum. She believes history has a unique way of connecting people, inspiring curiosity, and helping communities understand where they came from.

Whether greeting guests, leading conversations, or helping preserve Estero's heritage, Lori's enthusiasm and dedication make a lasting impact on everyone she meets.

Thank you, Lori, for sharing your passion for history and helping keep Estero's stories alive! ❤️🏡📚
