From my collection, this is: "One Planet"

One Planet is my mandala inspired by years of enjoying the photos in Earth From Above. My routine was to begin my studio time by turning to the day of the year and reflecting on the photo of the day that took me around the world. I eventually decided I wanted to create a collage that gathered together the beautiful images of the endless variety of earth's geographical landscapes. I then added to the collage the faces of earth's citizens to represent their endless variety, and then a variety of colors from a flower catalogue. The image of earth at the center of the mandala comes from a photo collection in the book Lonely Planet.

Where do you spend the most time? Does the art in that room actually reflect how much time you spend there?

The spaces we use most deserve the most thought.

On my mind lately: "The Fabric of Our Lives"

An Abundance of Beauty

I began this piece at Art in the Park in Paso Robles as a demonstration collage. It helps people to realize how my art is created if they can see me at work making a mess with paper scraps littering the ground. Despite a touch of rain and threatening wind gusts, most of this piece was completed outdoors. It was back in my studio that I added the arils (pomegranate seeds) that helped the piece come alive.

Here is a question worth sitting with: what do you actually see when you walk into your own home?

Not what is there, but what do you still notice? What draws your eye?

What have you stopped seeing because it has been there so long?

"Daydreams" and the online art gallery is here, if you need to switch things up.

There is a format that changes how a work reads on a wall, not just how it looks, but how it feels in a room.

Metal prints have a clarity and a presence that is different from anything else.

No frame is competing for attention. Just the work, direct. It is a format worth considering if you want something that holds up over time.
