Hey y’all! πŸ’œβœ¨

Violas invites you to join us for something powerful: Good Trouble Lives On – A Legacy of Courage and Commitment πŸ’ͺπŸΎβœŠπŸ½πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’œπŸŽ‰

Let’s come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis β€” a true hero who showed us how to stand up, speak out, and make good trouble. We’re honoring his fearless fight for justice and rededicating ourselves to the mission of equality, voting rights, and community power. πŸ’₯

Bring your light, your energy, and your passion for change. Let’s shine bright and keep the march going β€” together!

As a proud partner and participant, the Viola Heritage House Museum was deeply honored to stand alongside during this year’s powerful Juneteenth tribute. We are still reflecting on the strength, purpose, and unity felt as we gathered to honor the lives and legacies of the Sugar Land 95.

From the soulful sounds of Gregory β€œSaxman” Daniels to the unveiling of the historical marker by descendants of the Sugar Land 95β€”every moment was a reminder of why we must preserve history and uplift the voices of those who came before us.

Thank you to the organizers, supporters, and community members who helped make this day unforgettable. Your presence continues to shine a light on truth, healing, and justice.

Together, we honor. Together, we remember. Together, we preserve the legacy.

On Friday, Randle Elementary will participate in our campus dedication and ribbon cutting. Due to space, this event is only for the staff and students of Randle Elementary and the Viola Gilmore Randle family. Due to the checking in of visitors for the dedication ceremony, the office will be closed from 8:30-10:00 a.m. and will not be able to process any transportation changes during this time. Additionally, due to the logistics of the event, no lunch visitors will be able to visit during lunch on this day. We will take lots of pictures to share with our families!

We are encouraging our students to wear Randle shirts, purple, or green on Friday as we celebrate!

🚨History Alert! From Katy Texas African American Heritage Society πŸ’œ

Most people don’t know that the African American community in Katy started immediately after emancipation. Before the City of Katy was founded formerly enslaved people established a small settlement comprised of families rice farming and others seeking to work on the MKT Railroad.

Land was eventually given for a school, churches and burial grounds. Today, this community is called the Danover Community and it is endangered of erasure. The Black Heritage Family Festival is our way of raising awareness about this important history and an opportunity to work towards a more sustainable future.
