Late 1940s, as the old Whiting Hotel was torn down in 1946. Photo taken on Court Street looking toward Main Street in Glenville, West Virginia. You can see the Modern Dry Cleaners on the right, a shoe shop, and the Hub Department Store on the left. You might also note the G & D drug store has yet to be built. Bennett Home, Stumptown WV

“Cecil Davis and Dutch Miller cut the stone for our home at Stumptown also for the celler house.
Albert and Rollie West built the house
from lumber wich was dried in a kiln near the store building and barns. The lumber was from saw sets located on our lands and selected for the buildings, etc. Railings in the home as well as other decorations in wood were hand made.”
