There's still time to sign up for Medieval Longsword or Medieval Crossbow classes that begin today!

Registration in the comments!

Longsword is open to anyone of any experience, while crossbow requires having taking an archery class or attended open range with us before, or can demonstrate having prior experience with range safety. Both are great ways to learn an epic new skill!

A great first visit to these great library branches!

10/07/2026

Our first time at these libraries is a back-to-back Viking topic! Looking forward to it!

Behind the legendary raids and open seas were distinct cultures, tactics, and terrifying warrior societies. Join us tomorrow (Thursday) at the Beaverton Library from 5:30-7:00 PM for Viking Warrior Societies, an action-packed, interactive presentation led by Jerry Berg, expert educator from Grand Rapids' Swordsmanship Museum & Academy.
This event goes far beyond basic history books. You'll dive deep into the unique history, armor, and combat tactics of different Viking factions. Even better? You will get an up-close look at an incredible array of historical replicas, bringing the weapons and gear of the Viking world right before your eyes!
Whether you're a history enthusiast, a martial arts fan, or just love a great story, this dynamic presentation will change how you look at the Viking Age forever. Bring your questions and prepare for an exciting journey into the past! Appropriate for all ages.

Michigan Renaissance Festival 2026!
.. And that's a wrap!! We just finished our time sharing history and Swordsmanship at the Michigan Renaissance Festival 2026 run, participating every single day that the festival was open (16 total days over 7 weekends with the occasional weekday). Our role included historical education reenactment camps which changed each weekend based on the theme (Pirates, Highlanders, Vikings, Renaissance Irish Mercenaries, French Musketeers, German Landsknecht, and one weekend with unique historical warriors), Swordsmanship classes every weekend (including Cutlass, longsword, dussack, rapier and more!), interactive military drills (Viking shield walls, Pike squares, etc), two weekends of high intensity historical Swordsmanship exhibition demos, and our largest historical swordsmanship tournament of the year with over 70 swordsmen! A huge thank you to the Festival for allowing us once again to bring epic experiences to the community!

Our various sub- organizations that participated include: Nate's Savage Crew: Colonial Swordsmen, Gaelic Swordsmen, Corvus Cohort - Living History, Azure Musketeers, Military History Academy, Battlefield Champions, Heavy Steel Combat: Sword Dueling Exhibitors, and Crossed Swords at Hollygrove - Historical Swordsmanship Tournament
