The Luckiest Light

The Luckiest Light 501(c)(3) Nonprofit advocating for inclusion through Art and travel 💙💛

06/02/2026

On Saturday night, I had the privilege of standing among a group of truly phenomenal women who courageously shared their truths on stage with a room full of wonderful people. Thank you, Chris Providence, for inviting me to share my poem, The Luckiest Light.

Honestly, I was shaking. As I waited to step up, I kept asking myself, “How can I find the courage to do this?”Then I thought about the incredible artists and families who inspire me every day.

I thought of Hannah, who recently performed in, The Wizard of Oz. I thought of Miryana, who cheers in front of roaring crowds. I thought of Joe, who has no idea how naturally gifted he is as a public speaker. I thought of JP Henry, who pushed through his nerves and shined during our fashion show.

I thought of the mama bears who spend every day advocating for their children, reminding doctors, educators, neighbors, and lawmakers of their worth while balancing the demands of everyday life. I thought of my son trying something new on his skateboard, knowing he might fall. I thought of my daughter walking into a new school year with limited language. I thought of my husband holding my hand as we learned we would become parents to a beautiful little girl with Down syndrome.

And suddenly, I wasn’t standing there alone. I carried all of THEIR courage with me. NOT mine… theirs. The courage the WORLD can learn from.

I cannot thank the phenomenal women enough for encouraging me on that stage, the wonderful friends who showed up, and the community that continues to show up for the artists of The Luckiest Light.

The Luckiest Light is so much more than walls filled with artwork. As we celebrate one year in our gallery, I am overwhelmed with pride for what the artists have accomplished. Every piece hanging on our walls tells a story that fills my heart.

We welcome you to come experience it for yourself and learn from one of the most extraordinary communities I have ever been lucky enough to know.

THE LUCKIEST LIGHT
Proudly Presents:Keepers of The Light
By Malgorzata Baker Photography

A Black & White Portrait Exhibition

Throughout the month of June, The Luckiest Light is honored to feature the striking photographic work of Malgorzata Baker. Keepers of the Light is a collection of black and white artist headshots. It captures the individuals whose creativity, kindness, and passion continue to make The Luckiest Light a place of belonging, expression, and hope for a more inclusive world.

Through her lens, Malgorzata Baker reveals more than portraits, she captures spirit, identity, and humanity. Each photograph honors the artists who help keep the light shining brightly within our inclusive creative community.

Keepers of the Light reflects the mission of The Luckiest Light: creating an inclusive space where every artist is seen, valued, celebrated, and empowered. These portraits serve as a visual reminder that community is built through compassion, creativity, and the courage to be fully ourselves.

This exhibition is both a celebration of artistry and a tribute to the people whose presence continues to illuminate the gallery each day.

Exhibit on Display: June 1 – June 30

View the Exhibition At:
The Luckiest Light
220 N. Washington
Havre de Grace, MD 21078

Thank you Mal for taking the time to photograph the artists with the dignity, love, and compassion everyone deserves.

Today I started looking into modified beading techniques but then I realized that would mean fewer moments creating side by side on the same piece. And truthfully? We love the togetherness of making art as a team. Creating with Chris means conversations, laughter, and simply getting to be ourselves while bringing something fun into life together. Chris and I determined I’m a clingy friend and she’s ok with that 🫠😆 Pink turtles, gummy bears, and disco balls I mean who wouldn’t rock this bracelet?!

Artist Spotlight: Joe Harter

Joseph Harter brings the energy and wonder of New York City to canvas through his incredible skyline paintings. Inspired by a childhood trip to NYC, Joseph was completely captivated by the towering buildings, bright lights, and especially the unforgettable Twin Towers that left a lasting impression on his heart and imagination.

Today, Joseph channels those memories into his artwork, creating detailed cityscapes filled with movement, nostalgia, and admiration for the city that inspired him so deeply.

At The Luckiest Light, we celebrate artists like Joseph who transform meaningful memories into powerful works of art that connect with others. His paintings remind us how one moment, one trip, or one memory can shape a creative journey for a lifetime. Come see Joe’s show this September at The Luckiest Light!

It’s been an incredible weekend and we are beyond thankful to everyone who stopped by The Luckiest Light to support the artists and studio.

Congratulations to our artists!!! Original paintings, bookmarks, prints, photography, jewelry, and so many more pieces found new homes! They’re now out in the world making others smile.

There is nothing more beautiful than watching creativity connect people. Watching visitors leave with joy, inspiration, and understanding in their hearts reminds us why we do this every day.

This weekend our message reached all the way to Seattle, Washington, and we met new friends from around the world who are now taking The Luckiest Light shirts with them. THANK YOU for helping our light travel farther than we ever imagined.

We will be closed tomorrow. We also want to give a huge thank you to Apex Roofing and Exteriors for their generous donation to our nonprofit. The Luckiest Light provides accessible art experiences to others and all we ask in return is simple: Make Art. Be Kind.

We truly cannot do this without community support, and we are endlessly thankful for every person who believes in what we are building together.

Our gala is quickly approaching and we are so grateful to everyone who has already purchased fundraising tickets! 100% of the proceeds support creative, cool, joyful ART and inclusive opportunities for artists in our community.

A huge thank you to Danny’s Deli Havre de Grace and Jaime Bakes for sponsoring this special event. We cannot wait to celebrate with the best art community ever! Dress up, bring your creativity, and get ready for a memorable night filled with art, connection, and light.

Today, on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we’re celebrating more than art at The Luckiest Light…we’re celebrating ACCESS, BELONGING, and the power of a community that refuses to leave anyone behind. In just ONE year, this grassroots dream has become a movement.

In the beautiful town of Havre de Grace, artists of ALL abilities now have a dignified space to create and sell their work. New friendships, confidence, and opportunities have grown through art and the message of accessibility and inclusion continues reaching farther than we ever imagined.

The Luckiest Light was built on the belief that EVERYONE deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and included. Accessibility is not charity, It’s humanity. It’s making sure every person has the opportunity to shine brightly exactly as they are.

Today we honor the artists who courageously share their gifts, the volunteers who show up with love, and the supporters who continue helping us build a more inclusive world.

Please help us continue spreading this light by sharing our mission, visiting the gallery, supporting our artists, or simply reminding someone today that they matter. ❤️

Today, four talented artists stopped by The Luckiest Light and completely filled the gallery with fresh art, love, laughter, and inspiration. Every time artists walk through the doors, they bring pieces of themselves that make this space feel even more magical.

The Luckiest Light continues to grow because of artists like these who create, share their gifts, and inspire others to do the same. We cannot wait for everyone to see the new work lighting up our walls! Thank you Ryan, Brandon, Kayla, and Joe for bringing your creativity and joy to the gallery. You can support and see their work tomorrow 12-3PM.

Check out Brandon and Ryan’s favorite Khamari Smith pieces. You can also see Kayla taking in her new tapestry. She proudly saw it hung for the first time and loved it! We are honored to share it with visitors!

Be sure to celebrate with these incredible artists June 13 at our Luckiest Light 1-Year Birthday Gala Fundraiser! Tickets supply their studio and you can purchase them with the link below:
