More progress on this commission! I’m posting in segments because it’s so large and will require some layers.

At this stage I am putting in major color blocking and figuring out my tones. So far I’m loving the color and the textures 🤤

Next step is to add details.

If I’ve learned anything over my years of painting it’s that you do not rush the set up.

The more careful and thoughtful my underpainting is, the easier it comes together once I add color.

In this stage of the painting I am setting up the composition, designing light patterns and blocking in major values.

This painting is a commission from my mother in law who has had this idea in her head for years. Wish me luck as I bring it to life for her!

The first of a new series of classes that will be available ! Keep your eyes out for Bluebird Academia classes where we explore real principles of art.

In this class we learned about the value scale and parts of shadow. The class sold out! It was interactive and such a good time.
