Sometimes art stops us in our tracks.

A collector recently visited the gallery and had already chosen the piece she planned to take home. As she was checking out, this painting caught her eye.

She paused, smiled, and shared that it just looked like the Holy Spirit to her.

Moments like this remind us that every person brings their own experiences, memories, and beliefs to a work of art. What one person sees, another may see differently—and that's part of the beauty.

Some gifts can't be shared... at least not yet. 😊

These wonderful Oklahoma collectors were passing through town and made a special stop at Art in the Village to pick up a one-of-a-kind gift for someone they love.

We can't reveal what they chose (the surprise must stay a secret!), but that's part of what makes shopping local art so meaningful. When you're looking for a gift that feels personal, memorable, and impossible to find in a big-box store, handmade art has a way of saying exactly what words can't.

Whether you're celebrating a milestone, honoring someone special, or simply looking for a gift with a story behind it, we're here to help you find something truly unique.

Thank you for letting us be a small part of your special occasion. Safe travels, and we hope your gift brings lots of joy!

After several days of torrential rain & rumbling thunder, this painting feels like a deep breath.

Soft light. Golden fields. A little shelter tucked in.
Storms may rage from above—Then nature's vibrancy after the storm is always awe inspiring.

It’s amazing how a piece of art can hold those feelings when you look at it.

Wherever you are today, we hope you’re getting your spectacular summer started.

🕊️ This little beauty didn’t stick around long...

Just a week after landing in the gallery, this vibrant female cardinal by artist Linda McBride was spotted by a collector visiting all the way from the UK — and now it’s headed home with her across the pond.

It’s always amazing to watch the right piece find the right person, whether they’re a local regular or a traveler passing through.

That’s the magic of original art — it connects, instantly and unexpectedly.

🎨 New work by Linda McBride is arriving regularly, but they don’t tend to stay long. If something catches your eye… trust it.

🎉 Big news for Art in the Village! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that our co-founder, Mary P. Spellings, has been awarded the prestigious title of Master Artist by the Watercolor Society of Alabama.

This is not simply a membership title — it represents years of dedication, artistic excellence, and repeated acceptance into highly competitive national watercolor exhibitions.

To earn this honor, an artist must:
• Be accepted into multiple WSA National Exhibitions
• Earn Signature Status
• Advance to Signature Platinum
• Continue earning additional exhibition and award points at the national level

Only artists who reach the highest levels of consistent achievement receive the Master Artist designation.

Mary’s work, passion for the arts, and commitment to our creative community continue to inspire us every day, and we could not be more excited to celebrate this incredible accomplishment with her. ❤️🎨

Please join us in congratulating Mary Spellings on this well-deserved honor! 👏

The mystery pottery piece is finally revealed… 😄✨

It turned out to be a salt cellar complete with a tiny bamboo spoon.

There’s something so satisfying about creating pieces that become part of everyday life. The kind of item you reach for every morning while cooking dinner, setting the table, or sharing a meal with family.

We love how this glaze turned out too — soft blue tones with earthy speckles and carved texture around the base that makes every piece feel a little different and completely one of a kind.

Would you keep this beside your stove, on a coffee bar, or on your dining table? 👇

Handmade pottery has a way of making ordinary moments feel special. And honestly… that’s part of the magic of collecting local art. 💙
