A closer look reveals just how much there is to discover in the paintings of Amer Kobaslija.

Throughout his artistic trajectory, Kobaslija has depicted his surroundings with virtuosity and wit, displaying a keen eye for detail, informed by a deep understanding of the history of art.

In his ongoing Artist Studios series, the artist studio serves as an important motif. Although the studios are always vacant, their interiors are cluttered and lived-in, acting as allegorical portraits of the people who inhabit them.

‘Outside Looking In: The Paintings of Amer Kobaslija’ is on view now at MOCA Jacksonville.

MOCA Jacksonville joins the art world in remembering David Hockney (1937–2026).

Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, Hockney’s work transformed the possibilities of painting, printmaking, photography, and drawing through decades of experimentation and innovation.

MOCA is honored to care for ‘Lithographic Water Made of Lines, Crayon and Two Blue Washes Without Green Wash’ (1978–1980) in our permanent collection. The work will be on view beginning July 18 as part of ‘The American Century’ exhibition.

We celebrate Hockney’s extraordinary artistic legacy and the lasting impact of his work on generations of artists and audiences around the world.

As the school year comes to an end, we would like to thank Community First Cares Foundation for their support of MOCA Jacksonville’s school tour program.

Over the past two years, the Foundation has supported 3,344 students from Title I schools who may otherwise not be able to access the museum.

The program covers the cost of museum tours and related transportation expenses. Students receive a guided tour of MOCA exhibitions, time in the studio to create an art project, educational resources to extend learning beyond their visit, and a free family pass to return to the museum.

Thank you to the Foundation for helping expand access to arts education and museum experiences for students throughout our community. 💙
