Fiber artist Carol Irving's series of woven
panels, "A Weaver's Journal of Endangered
Wildflowers" expresses concern for the future of all
threatened species. Michigan's wildflowers are near
and dear to Irving. She hopes her art will bring
attention to the importance of protecting native plants.

Last week, RTPI hosted Minnesota artist Tanya Piatz as she studied Roger Tory Peterson's work and collected photos from the surrounding area. Her goal was to gather information for an art series she calls “Species of Special Concern.” Tanya has been using Minnesota’s DNR list “Species of Greatest Conservation Need” to illustrate birds that have been experiencing decline due to habitat loss and human interference. Watch for Tanya's work in a future exhibition!

🌻 What if flowers weren’t just beautiful—but essential?

In Radial Nectar, Jim Corp invites us to look beyond the surface of flowering plants and consider the intricate relationships that sustain life around us.

Inspired by the decline in bee populations and the essential role of wildflowers in ecosystems, this work is part of a series that celebrates flowers as active participants in the natural world: providers of nectar, carriers of pollen, and teachers of interdependence. 🐝

With bold color and unexpected energy, Radial Nectar reimagines the familiar beauty of nature in a way that feels both joyful and urgent.

Visit the exhibition in person and discover how Beyond Beauty invites us to look closer at the beauty, complexity, and interdependence of the natural world.

We were excited to be providing an activity at the Chautauqua County 4-H Youth Development 2026 Conservation Field Days event yesterday. Our program and events team of Claire Johnson and Liam McSteen came up with a fun artsy bluebird project that 140 students from several different schools were able to do. Liam created stamped postcards using potatoes(!) and then the kids the following day added leaves, bluebirds, and birdhouses for their personalized, takeaway postcards! We were so happy to join over 30 other organizations there to inspire kids about nature and conservation. Can't wait for the next one! We love being out in our community, sharing our own joy and love of birds, nature and conservation. 🐦🦋🐞🐿️🌎
