Did you miss our Condor film screening and discussion? It's now posted on our YouTube channel! We are so grateful to filmmaker Jeff McLoughlin for letting us share his wonderful film "The Condor's Shadow" and discussing the making of it along with Estelle Sandhaus, Vice President of Conservation at the Santa Barbara Zoo which has been a vital part of the condor recovery program for years. Special thanks to artist Jennifer Anderson for her artist in residency here at RTPI and the resulting exhibition of her portraits of California Condors and American Kestrels. We hope that many more people are now aware of these incredible species that need our protection and advocacy!

Kelly Marie O'Brien has created a truly unique sculptural piece that captures the transient beauty of a flower for just a bit longer, allowing the viewer to take in their beauty and also to acknowledge their fragility.

This is a piece that needs to be experienced.

Join us this Thursday, June 18, for a FREE webinar film screening of The Condor’s Shadow: A Documentary Film by Jeff McLoughlin, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker and Estelle Sandhouse, Vice President of Conservation and Science of the Santa Barbara Zoo, which has been a vital partner in the efforts to restore California Condors in the wild.

As our exhibition by artist Jennifer Anderson, Enduring Beauty: Portraits of the California Condor and American Kestrel, draws to a close (the last day is June 21st), we bring you this final program, which will share the past, present, and hoped-for future of these incredible and often misunderstood birds.

We are happy to announce we have a summer intern by the name of Kian Kischke joining us from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and majoring in environmental studies. Kian will be helping us in the Peterson Preserve, creating new signage, doing some minor maintenance and updating our Peterson Preserve website information as well. We're very grateful to Everwild Land Trust colleagues, Twan Leenders and Carol Markham, for sharing their expertise with us. Our new CEO, Stacey Otte-Demangate also learned a lot during the walk and is excited to freshen up the preserve interpretation, while also looking at other potential outdoor education projects.

Thank you, Land Trust
