The Kane Area Children's Museum celebrated a successful weekend of racing and fundraising as community members and friends of the museum participated in events during the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend 2026, raising more than $11,000 in support of the museum!
Participants took part through the āRun for a Reasonā charity platform, which allows runners to fundraise on behalf of nonprofit organizations while competing in race events.
A strong showing of local runners represented the museum across a variety of races. Young athletes from the Kane Kids of STEEL program completed the Chick-fil-A Kids Marathon, while 31 runners participated in the UPMC Health Plan/UPMC Sports Medicine 5K. In longer-distance events, 10 runners completed the UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon, two runners finished the DICKāS Sporting Goods Marathon, and five individuals teamed up to compete the FedEx Marathon Relay.
We are so grateful for the collective effort which highlighted both community spirit and a shared commitment to supporting educational opportunities for children in the Kane area and beyond.š
Those interested in supporting the museum through future Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend races can participate in the āRun for a Reasonā program. For more information, contact Run for a Reason Coordinator Sarah Barber at [email protected] šāāļø
Way to go, runners! š
