We are incredibly proud of the 115 Kent School District students who participated in the 2026 National History Day competition. This was only possible because of the amazing teachers, Amanda Aldous & John Buchinger from Meeker Middle School and Wayan Morales from Cedar Heights Middle School. They worked with their students for a year-long preparation, which included working with students on concept mapping, research, layout design, writing content, video editing, script writing, and more!

The Young Kent Historians created exhibits, documentaries, websites, and performances that explored historical events connected to this year's theme of Revolution, Reaction, and Reform.

Please visit the museum to recognize the great work done by the students.

Today, is MMIWR National Day this day and week is a time to learn, share and fight for the justice of the Missing Murdered Indigenous Women & Relatives in this nation. This week you may see red dresses, red hand prints or an emphasis on red. The red hand over the mouth represents the silenced lives taken and the silent media coverage. Red also the color ancestors can see, a way to call back the missing and murdered ancestors to find rest and the color we all bleed as humans. Today we wear red and we continue to learn.

We as the Kent Historical Museum aim to better serve and represent the Kent community this includes learning more and having conversations of the crisis the Indigenous face everyday.

Join us as Pamela Seamonster talks about the crisis of missing & murdered Indigenous people.
