Emily Moorhead-Wallace got into sculpture from the influence of her father. The creative energy of making something new from preexisting items guided her to seek an art career. The City of Knoxville and the Old Sevier Community Group are working to make a place for artists in Knoxville. Please join us this Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 PM for a neighborhood block party and sculpture unveiling at 420 Elizabeth Avenue, right at the corner of Jones Street. The event is hosted by Old Sevier Community Group (OSCG) and SoKno Sculpt.

The occasion? The unveiling of Southern Beacon, a seven-foot Turkish marble sculpture commissioned for Barry Crowder’s front yard and created by sculptor Bill Cook, Jr. It’s the latest step in SoKno Sculpt’s effort to turn Old Sevier into an open-air gallery, one front yard at a time.

We’re even closing the street for the evening, so come on over and enjoy the block party vibe. We’ll have live jazz by Palm Sol, plus beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
