For this week's What's It Wednesday, we are featuring our moustache cups! The moustache cup, often a coffee or tea cup, features a ledge on the inner rim that helps protect the drinker's moustache wax from the liquid inside the cup. The cup was invented in the late 19th century following the increase in men with moustaches based on Western trends at the time. Our cups are featured just outside the mansion's kitchen and are available to view by the public!👨🏻☕️

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our Edison phonograph No. 15. This new phonograph was designed to play for 4 minutes and 45 seconds per wind and is meant to play the blue Amberol cylinders. Today our phonograph resides on the third floor where you can see it on display!🎶😊

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our Empress Theatre display! Constructed in 1912 and managed by John King, the theatre aimed to bring family-friendly entertainment to Laramie. The theatre featured a live orchestra that played during silent films and plays! Our photo, taken in 1913, showcases what the theatre would have looked like around the time of its opening. You can learn more about the Empress Theatre by visiting our display on the second floor of the mansion!🎭

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our railroad display! The display features many items significant to Laramie’s history as a temporary city built for railroad workers before individuals like the Ivinsons invested in permanent structures for the community. Our display features a map created by Grace Rayomond Hebard, which depicts a rendition of the railroad, as well as a uniform and many smaller pieces. To learn more about the railroad, you can visit our display on the third floor of the mansion!🚂

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our sheriff’s desk! Originally owned by Sheriff Burnstad, this desk serves as an exhibit honoring the many sheriffs in Laramie’s history who have helped protect our city. The desk is featured on the third floor of the mansion, where you can visit the exhibit and learn more about the history of sheriffs in Laramie!

This past weekend we hosted our annual evening at the Ivinsons fundraiser! We had so much fun, and we hope those who joined us did as well! 🎡🤩

On September 20 there will a ceremony to rededicate the Albany County WWI memorial monument. The battleship USS Wyoming - BB 32- operated with allied forces in the North Sea for the duration of the war. Watch this site for more info on the ceremony.

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our presidential cabinet display! While no president has come from Wyoming, we have hosted many over the years. Whether it’s for a vacation, a campaign stop, or just a stop through, U.S. presidents love to visit Wyoming. Some notable visits featured in our display are Theodore Roosevelt’s iconic horse ride from Laramie to Cheyenne and President Taft meeting with local school Children! You can learn more about presidential visits through the museum’s display currently housed on the second floor!

This week we hosted our final tea Tuesday of the summer, featuring historian Kylie McCormick, who shared the remarkable history of innovation in Wyoming. Guests were also able to learn more about the lasting contributions of the Ivinsons in Laramie, as well as some uniquely innovative pieces featured in the mansion.

For this week’s What’s It Wednesday, we are featuring our telegraph! Our telegraph is based on a 1940s design and, as shown in the video, connects directly to our office to showcase what it's like to use! This technology revolutionized long-distance communication, becoming the primary means of transference for over 100 years. Fun fact: the first message sent by telegraph, "What hath God wrought?" was sent between Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD on May 24, 1844.
