A rare Yellowstone moment unfolded last week when a wolf stepped out onto the Lamar River bank just as I rounded a bend. I grabbed my backup camera for video, assuming they’d stay far away from the road, but after crossing the river, the 3 wolves angled straight toward me.
I switched to my main photography camera and crossed the road, hoping for a chance at a photo. The last wolf paused, curious, drifting close enough for a few unforgettable frames before trotting off to rejoin the others. I sat in my truck afterward, letting the adrenaline settle before continuing on to the next photo opportunity.
