The Bradbury Science Museum, located in downtown Los Alamos, New Mexico, is your window into the research and history of Los Alamos National Laboratory. More than 40 interactive exhibits trace the history of the WWII Manhattan Project, highlight the Laboratory's current and historic research projects related to defense and technology, and focus on the Laboratory research related to national and in

ternational economic, environmental, political, and social concerns. The museum is closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Reminder: Beginning tomorrow, the Bradbury Science Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Beginning June 16, the Bradbury Science Museum will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

This change allows builders to remodel parts of the museum to improve the visitor experience.

The museum appreciates your patience during these updates and looks forward to continuing to serve the community during this phase and sharing the new look with visitors soon.

With a background in education, Isolina brings warmth and insight to every interaction, guiding visitors through both geology and history.
“I want to be part of this community and serve locals and tourists from all over the world,” she said.

Museum Guide Spotlight: Patty Moore

Patty leads with kindness, creating a welcoming space for every visitor — sometimes in
unexpected ways. One recent encounter has stayed with her, she said. A senior couple
rode their motorcycle from Albuquerque only to have it break down after their visit. As they
worked on a repair in the cold, Moore let them back inside while they waited for help. A few
days later, she received a handwritten note thanking her for her kindness.

“This story is a reflection of why our job as museum guides is so significant,” she said.

Museum Guide Spotlight: Diana ‘Deedi’ Stokes

A lifelong Los Alamos local, Diana connects visitors to the town’s past through personal
stories and lived experience. She gravitates toward the History Gallery, especially the
uniforms in the lobby that once belonged to friends of her parents.

Museum Guide Spotlight: Tom Ribe

Tom finds the most rewarding moments in helping visitors understand the Lab’s impact.

“I enjoy seeing people come to an understanding of what LANL does,” he said. He hopes visitors leave with a deeper understanding of how science shapes the nation's future and he is grateful to work with what he calls "a great crew of people."

Museum Guide Spotlight: Herbert Valdez

For Herbert, being a guide is both an honor and a joy, and he’s focused on making every
visit meaningful. His favorite exhibit is "The Atomic Age Begins" because it traces nuclear
science back to Wilhelm Röntgen's accidental discovery of X-rays in 1895.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to work for the Lab,” he said. He hopes visitors leave with a
positive experience that inspires others to explore the museum.

Museum Guide Spotlight: Heather Bishop

Heather enjoys connecting Los Alamos’ history to its cutting-edge work today, often using
early calculators and slide rules to show how technology has changed.

“It is not only the history of the Manhattan Project that makes Los Alamos unique, but what
the Lab is currently working on today,” she said.
