𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦, 𝘚𝘮𝘰𝘬𝘦, 𝘚𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳, 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 by Sabrina Gschwandtner is on view at Shoshana Wayne Gallery now through January 10th. Shoshana Wayne Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm.

This exhibition also debuts a new “video quilt,” a hybrid form the artist has developed over the last eight years. Resembling a patchwork quilt, the work interlaces archival film, handwritten text, and a recorded interview with the artist’s mother, who recounts obtaining an illegal abortion in the years before Roe v. Wade. The video models forms of agency, showing women asserting control over their bodies and narratives, even under restrictive and oppressive conditions.

Shoshana Wayne Gallery will be exhibiting at the Salon Art + Design 2025 fair at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.

A selection of recent works by Jiha Moon and Yveline Tropéa will be presented.

We will be located at Booth D2. The fair’s hours are from 2pm - 8pm on Friday, 11am - 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 11am - 4pm on Monday. We hope to see you then!

Shoshana Wayne Gallery is pleased to present 𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦, 𝘚𝘮𝘰𝘬𝘦, 𝘚𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳, 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦, an exhibition by artist Sabrina Gschwandtner. This is the artist’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition will open on Saturday, November 1st, with an opening reception from 4-6pm.

After the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Gschwandtner looked back to the “pre-Roe” era, drawing on early film and familial memory to explore how women have taken control of their bodies and lives. Working with black-and-white 35mm film, etching ink on film, thread, and video, she presents twelve film quilts and a single-channel video that expand the concept of “filmic suture” into a three-dimensional, materially embodied cinematic form. Through her research-based and materially grounded practice, the artist stitches together a lineage of bodily autonomy and resistance.

We are thrilled to share the short film directed by Corey Marsau following Ashwini Bhat through her daily walks after the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Bhat recounts her grounding rituals, where she would “roll a small ball of clay between her palms” a ritual that became the 108 beads that make up 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘵, 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴. These walks turned into studio rhythms for her and this process of the back and forth between nature and studio led to the fabulous work of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 and her bigger journey of 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 .

They will be discussing the sublime and resonant new body of work by Bhat, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩.

Bhat’s early mid career retrospective curated by Krivchenia, 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧, is currently on view at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

We are thrilled to announce that Liat Segal's installation 𝘏𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 (2024) has been chosen as a Lumen Prize Finalist!

The installation is on view now through October 19th, 2025 at the Wende Museum in Culver City as part of the exhibition 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳/𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦: 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭, 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘤𝘺, 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺.

The Wende Museum will be hosting a tour of the exhibition on Friday, September 19th, 2025 at 11:30am.
